Digital Photography II: Master Manual Mode at Night
I feel very fortunate to have stumbled onto the Art of Intuitive Photography workshops. On a whim I signed up for the Mastering Manual Mode At Night workshop and—wow—it was a win for me. For two hours Ocie guided my learning with thoughtful insights, suggestions for technical improvement, honest critique, and humor as I learned various techniques and strategies to take advantage of nighttime lighting, shadows, reflections, and so on. The two hours seemed to wiz by in a few minutes in the immersive but safe space Ocie created for my learning experience. I am looking forward to exploring other learning opportunities with Art of Intuitive Photography. Check them out if you’re looking to up your photography game. -
Digital Photography II: Master Manual Mode at Night
Mindy was excellent, she explained everything in detail and allowed us to practice our new skill. But communication from Coursehorse about the exact location of the course was very sketchy. I almost was walking away, thinking that 20 Lincoln Center was the address, but the actual class was outdoors, near the fountain in front of Lincoln Center and the folks at the gate, correctly, had to clue about any photography class. Just before walking away, Mindy sent me a text message and that's how I connected to her. There were no explanations about how the class would be organised, what equipment to bring. Very disorganised. -
Photo Safari: Central Park
My lesson was an amazing experience, all thanks to the awesome photography instructor I had the great pleasure of meeting, Zim! It was a stroke of luck that I was the only student this particular day and ended up (not intentionally) having a private lesson with an incredibly knowledgeable photography teacher. Zim immediately assessed my beginner needs and proceeded to instruct me on the basics of my camera and beginning photographic skills and techniques which is precisely the information I needed. I cannot say enough how fantastic an experience this was for me, A private lesson for 2 hours from a knowledgeable instructor- I learned so much and was so extremely appreciative of this time spent. I hope to become a better photographer as a result of Zim's excellent teaching, advice and recommendations ! -

Neutral Density Filter Long Exposure Workshop
The instructor was patient and quite wonderful. Her explanations were clear and she made every effort to make sure that you understood the concept. -

Our instructor really took her time explaining each component of her lesson plan. My favorite part was getting to be hands on with the material she gave us. -
Digital Photography Live In-the-Field @ American Museum of Natural History
Mindy was very encouraging and informative. All in all, the experience was productive, enlightening and enjoyable. -
Digital Photography Live In-the-Field @ Eldridge Street Synagogue
I bundled two photo classes back to back. The class(es) itself was great and the instructor was personable, patient and friendly. The synagogue and its environs are perfect and the instructor got to know us well enough that she could adapt the class to what we would shoot in our personal and professional lives. Would recommend. The lead-up to the class was difficult — the coordinator (NOT the instructor) kept changing instructors on us, course times, duration, etc. Communication got confusing via text message, email, phone call at once, with sometimes contradictory info like “Enjoy your class Saturday!” when class was actually scheduled for Sunday. That said, the coordinator was very personable and friendly and I enjoyed talking to him, as delightfully scattered as he came across. -
iPhone Photography
I just got my first iPhone after being team Android ever since I got my first HTC smartphone circa 2010. I'm still getting used to doing things the “Apple way” and PhotoUno's “2-hour iPhone photography class” is an excellent way to accelerate the learning curve of learning to harvest the capabilities of the iPhone camera. We had Francisco (Lyons) as the instructor of the class. We had a small class (4 students) which probably made for a better experience before we all got my individual attention. The class seats up to 9 people. We started the class off with short introductions, then we got into the very basics of photography. Think ISO, shutter speed, aperture, the rule's of 3rd's etc. I already knew most of this, but this was a greater refresher and I felt it was taught at an adequate level for the uninitiated. We got into shooting actually objects and learning about the multiple settings and functions that the stock iPhone camera app makes available. The class is laser focus on the default camera app, and the instructor didn't make mention of any 3rd party apps at any point. Overall, I felt that it was well worth the money. Francisco was great and was excellent at breaking down somewhat complicated subjects to a beginner level. I felt a lot more comfortable using the camera after taking this class. -
iPhone Photography
The class was fun, informative, and very interactive. -

Photo Safari: Central Park
I have tried to learn photography skills from a number of sources and found Zim's approach to be most effective. She has a great combination of talents: extremely knowledgeable, listens well to what you want to learn, teaches in a way that you learn and won't forget. -
Long Exposure Photography
Really excellent class! I love the student centered approach that the teachers have in instructing their courses. I’ve taken classes with other people but I’d recommend JP Teaches Photo over all the others. -
Intro to Smartphone Photography
Sepia was the best. Have us a great overview and the most important pointers to improve our work. I used them that night at a party. He also had worked one on one time into the class which was very helpful. It was great! -
Intro to Smartphone Photography
I had a great class. It was the first time for me learning about the potential of my camera and Sepia taught me a lot. The lesson was organized for outdoor indoor and editing and answering all my questions. I didn't need to write anything during class and as promised I got the information from Sepia via email afterward. Thank you for a lovely day. -
Digital Photography II: Master Manual Mode at Night
Mindy is a great teacher. This class gave me more confidence in night photography. -
Intro to Smartphone Photography
Sepia was engaging and entertaining as an instructor, and the class helped me understand the functions of my cell phone so I can take better photos! The cell is the only camera I use, so I might as well know how to. The class helped me do that. -
Digital Photography II: Master Manual Mode at Night
Mindy started the class on time. Her method of teaching is exactly as she describes it- intuitive. Within minutes, the class was able to capture night time shots that we would have never been able to take without Mindy's guidance. She quickly dismisses the idea of needing a tripod for night time photography. I even got to learn how to take beautiful photo art/photo writing pictures. Highly recommended class. Thank You Mindy! -
Intro to Smartphone Photography
Sepia was so engaging and in-depth about photography as a whole, not just related to smartphone use. He took time with each student to show techniques and answer questions. I had no idea how much I could do with the camera on my phone and the quality. Loved this class. -
Zoo Views (Ages 18+)
Not so much a photography class inasmuch as a photo opportunity! Judy and the team at the Zoo were a pleasure to spend the morning with. Having the opportunity to experience the zoo prior to the public opening was worth the price of admission alone. For the Valentines event, heart shaped treats in prime locations were provided to the animals once our group was situated leading to wonderful photo opportunities. The group was a good size, with enough viewing spots to not need to climb on-top of each other. Admission tickets were provided at the end for those wishing to spend additional time at the zoo. Will definitely be back! -
The Analog Film Lab
Max was super patient and attentive to each students needs, including my own. I came in not even knowing what ISO was. Max wasn’t supposed to come outside with us for the shooting portion but he popped out to help me with my first shot and was really patient in doing so. The class was so informative, fun, and rewarding. I met some really awesome new friends as well. I am definitely booking another class to further expand my film/photography skills. Highly suggest. This class was a surprise birthday present from my husband and it was probably the best present he’s ever given me. -
Intro to Smartphone Photography
The teacher was absolutely wonderful. I learned so much in just two hours. I will definitely be recommending this class. -
Photoshop Essentials
GREAT class. Only issue is that I have a Mac and the instruction was all on Windows - would have preferred learning on a Mac, but the teacher was wonderful and I feel way more Photoshop-equipped now.
