Sound Design Basics

We all know how important sound is when it comes to video games. Sound helps bring game worlds to life and enhances the player's experience. Yet sometimes, audio ends up being overlooked in the development process. In this class, developers and audio designers delve into the process of creating sound effects, and will learn how to work harmoniously to create games with great audio.

This class will cover:

• Discerning and communicating the needs for audio within their own game through use of an asset list
• Setting up microphone and recording sound effects
• Performing basic editing such as cuts/fades, EQ, reverb, and layering
• Looping sound effects (essential for games!)
• Understanding the audio workflow in order to enhance communication with audio designers

All attendees will receive a class packet including notes, resources, and exercises upon completion of the class.
