Class Description

Description

In this two-part class (120 minutes per module, with a 60-minute lunch break), we will navigate the major families of perfumery materials and explore the most important ingredients within each category.

Together, we will discuss their composition, olfactory profile, evolution on a blotter, performance, and the role they play within a fragrance. We will also examine their most common applications, creative possibilities, and the unique characteristics that make each material an essential tool in the perfumer's palette.

More than simply smelling raw materials, this module is designed to help develop an olfactory culture: learning to recognize the relationships between ingredients, understanding why they are used, and appreciating how they contribute to the architecture of a perfume. From timeless naturals to indispensable aroma chemicals, each material tells part of the story behind modern perfumery.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or looking to strengthen your fragrance foundation, this course offers a practical and immersive introduction to the fascinating universe of perfumery materials.
