Accords are the foundation of modern perfumery, creating realistic illusions and refining raw materials into sophisticated compositions. Perfumers rely on accords as essential tools to craft complex, balanced fragrances with lasting impact.

This hands-on course teaches you to recognize what accords are, how to construct them using proven methodologies, and how to develop your unique olfactory compositions. Through systematic training and guided practice, you will build both technical knowledge and artistic confidence.

Course content includes:

  • The Jean Carles Method: A structured approach to blending raw materials at varying ratios to understand their chemical interactions, train your sensory perception, and identify balance, contrast, and structural relationships in fragrance composition.
  • GC-MS Analysis: Learn to interpret chemical data from natural materials and fragrance oils to understand their molecular structure and composition.
  • Accord Construction: Develop a balanced approach combining intuition, personal aesthetic judgment, and systematic methodology to create harmonious blends.
  • Intuition Development: Complete guided exercises designed to strengthen your artistic direction and sensory recognition skills.

By course completion, you will possess confidence in your own creative instincts, mastery of the Jean Carles Method, and practical tools to make your original fragrance compositions distinctive and successful.

We offer to reschedule as needed 3 business days prior. There are no refunds, as we prepare ingredients and class materials beforehand.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

In the event that an instructor or the school needs to cancel at the last minute, students will receive a refund less a 5% non-refundable registration fee.

    I enjoyed the class, but it was less in-depth than I wish it was. The description of the class mentions the Jean Carles method, but I did not hear 'Jean Carles' at any point in the class. We were given instructions to try out different ratios of two perfume ingredients, until we liked how they were blended. Then that would be the 'accord'. Perhaps that was the Jean Carles method, but the teacher did not tell us that. There was no mention of GC–MS data, despite this being listed as part of the class description.
