Description

The Bağlama, commonly known as the saz, has journeyed from village to village carried by wandering minstrels and remains the beating heart of Turkish folk music. This versatile instrument continues to anchor contemporary Anatolian psychedelic rock and modern musical explorations. We invite you to begin learning to play the Bağlama from scratch.

Each session introduces fundamental playing techniques through the study of cherished Turkish folk songs. You will develop the ability to play like renowned musicians such as Arif Sağ, Aşık Veysel, and Altın Gün. This unparalleled introduction to Middle Eastern music opens a gateway to understanding other string instruments of the region.

This course is ideal for motivated beginners and intermediate students seeking to strengthen their foundational skills and musical understanding.

Instrument rentals are available for students who need them. Your instructor can also guide you in selecting and purchasing your own learning instrument; simply ask if you are interested in this assistance.
