Join us for this special two session on camera film/TV workshop with special guest master class teacher – Colin Hanlon
Broadway and TV star – Colin Hanlon (Modern Family, Uncoupled) is bringing his signature On Camera intensive to Broadway Workshop!
Self-taping is now at least 95% of the business in TV/Film and many initial theater auditions. Taping yourself for theater vs. TV are very different experiences and this class will examine and discuss the differences. Since 2020 actors and their parents have had to become their own directors, editors, sound designers, costume designers …etc in order to get a good tape to submit. This class will break down the best ways to create your self tapes, find the simplest way to achieve quality tapes and how to be the best ‘reader’ for your scene partner.
For week one, students will receive a short scenes a few days before class to give you time to memorize and prepare and students may choose which scene they want to prepare. In week two, students will receive longer scenes to dive into. Each student will be in front of the camera each class.
Colin’s goal is to get each student to be their full self on screen.
Students will use their phone to tape and will have a copy of their work. Students will be asked to watch all their individual takes from class. In week 2, students will have a discussion about what they learned by watching themselves: habits, successes, things they want to improve and things they know they need to be aware of. Learning to self-edit in a constructive way is the ultimate goal. We know each student will get so much out of their experience in this two day intensive!
