What you'll learn in this tour class:

Learn the difference between wood-, coal-, and gas-fueled ovens as you hit three amazing pizzerias in 2.5 hours in some of Brooklyn’s most beautiful neighborhoods. This tour alternates between Downtown Brooklyn and Williamsburg, both just minutes from Manhattan via subway!

There's more to New York than Manhattan so take a short ride in a subway or cab and meet us in Brooklyn for a deep study of one neighborhood's pizza landscape. We'll visit three pizzerias, each of which features a different style of pizza. You'll meet the owners and chefs (pizzaioli) as you learn the nuances of their craft and develop a new respect for pizza making.

This tour alternates between two neighborhoods:

Saturday lunch tours concentrate on Downtown Brooklyn, including Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill (easy access from Manhattan via the F, A, C, 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains).

Saturday dinner tours and Thursday lunch tours concentrate on Williamsburg, the first Brooklyn neighborhood you'll hit if you take the L train from Manhattan.

Children under the age of four are welcome to join us free of charge as long as you are willing to share your slices with them. Limit is one child under four per adult. All others must purchase a general ticket.

Beverages are not provided at our tour stops but may be purchased at each pizzeria. It is strongly suggested that you bring a refillable water container. A wedge of lemon will aid digestion!

Question from Lucy L.
Which pizzerias does the tour hit? Thanks!
Answer from Scott W. Verified Educator
Our guides have the freedom to curate their tours as they desire, whether it's due to pizza happenings, pizza science, crowd excitement, etc. so there are no set routes for any tours. However, the areas the pizzerias occur in, can help you see what possibilities there might be - 11:45AM Brooklyn Tour is in the Cobble Hill area, and the 5PM Brooklyn Tour is in Williamsburg. Many thanks!

We had a wonderful time. Krista was a terrific leader. She was cheerful, entertaining, informative and interactive with the group. She Remembered our names, and made sure to keep track of “who was with whom” or “ made new friends with whom”.

The Pizza walk was great, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and energetic. I wish there was at least one more stop on the tour, but overall i would recommend this tour to anyone looking for something quick and fun to do on a weekend.

Our guide, Krista, was truly amazing. She was so informative and fun to be around, and made the whole experience as enjoyable as possible. She was the best part of the whole tour, which is saying something considering we spent several hours eating different delicious pizzas! The whole experience was so fun, and the tour group was such a cool mix of first time NYC-eras and people who’ve lived here forever, like me. I learned so much about my favorite food, and had so much fun doing it. I’d recommend this tour to anyone!

Krista was a fantastic guide! She was so personable, interesting, and well informed. We discovered so much about the art of pizza making, as well as how our pallets are affected by different flavors and taste. I've already recommended the tour to friends, and we look forward to taking another tour soon. Thanks to Krista it was a wonderful trip into Brooklyn and well worth the cost and the time.
