This comprehensive and engaging sewing and fashion design program encourages young students to explore their creative potential while learning fundamental sewing techniques and fashion design principles in a supportive environment. Through interactive, hands-on projects, participants work with diverse fabrics, experiment with color and texture exploration, and develop fine motor skills alongside artistic expression, creative confidence, and self-assurance. The curriculum accommodates varied skill levels and ages, with age-appropriate projects and instruction tailored to each developmental stage and learning pace.
Younger students in the 3 to 4 year age group begin with simple, no-sew projects such as decorating paper dolls with fabric clothing and assembling clothing for dolls and teddy bears with direct teacher support and personalized guidance. These activities introduce concepts about design, color coordination, and the creative process in an age-appropriate manner. Students in the 5 to 6 year range work on slightly more complex projects as they develop fundamental hand dexterity and tool safety skills, introducing them to safe handling of scissors and other basic materials. Students ages 7 to 8 and 9 to 11 progress to learning basic stitching techniques, creating fabric accessories and toys, and designing wearable items, including skirts and tops, with increasing independence and skill mastery. As students advance through the program, they build confidence in their creative abilities, discover their personal style preferences, develop significant pride in their handmade creations and accomplishments throughout the course, and gain experience in planning and executing design concepts.
