Description

Our 1-Week Film and TV Acting Camp covers the essentials of screen performance, including:

  • Ensemble building
  • Improvisation
  • Script analysis
  • Scene study
  • On-camera terminology
  • Introduction to The Barrow Group acting tools

These camps are designed to be repeated, as students work on different scenes and encounter new acting tools each time. In tween camp sessions, students observe their classmates' work and offer objective feedback based on what shifted after a given direction. Developing this kind of careful observation is foundational to the learning process and to understanding The Barrow Group's approach.

This class introduces students to our specific approach to storytelling and gives them the same tools our adult professional actors use. We believe that to act is to play, and that students learn best in an atmosphere of relaxed, positive reinforcement.

What distinguishes The Barrow Group School from many other studios in New York City is that every teacher has completed an intensive teacher training program, meaning the person working with your child has trained for years in our specific approach.

Note: The lunch break runs from 12:30 to 1:15 pm. Tween students remain on-site during this time and should bring a lunch or arrange delivery. Tweens do not have the option to leave for the lunch break. More information and an intensive syllabus will be sent 2 to 3 weeks before the start date.

Refund Policy

All payments are non-refundable (unless the school cancels the class).

Commitment is for the duration of the session. There are no credits or refunds for individual missed classes. If you discontinue any class before the ending date of the session, you forfeit your fee.

  • If you need to cancel a full class session (the full 6, 8, or 10 week class) for any reason, you must notify us by email at [email protected] at least 8 business days before the registered class start date, and we will apply a credit to your account for a future class. Credits are valid for one-year.
  • If a student wishes to transfer to a different class, they must notify us by email at [email protected] at least 8 business days before the first day of the registered class. No transfers will be allowed after this.

A student may not transfer to a different class once a class has begun.

The school reserve the right to change teachers at any time.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
