My First Sweater

Ready to knit a sweater you’ll actually wear? In this three-class series, you’ll learn how to knit a cozy alpaca sweater worked in flat pieces and seamed together — a classic construction that builds real skills and confidence.

Over three guided sessions, we’ll break the process into manageable steps: knitting the front, back, and sleeves separately, learning simple shaping, and finishing your sweater with clean seams and polished details. This approach is ideal for knitters who are ready to move beyond scarves and hats and want to understand how sweaters truly come together.

We’ll work from a pattern designed specifically for this series and yarn, ensuring consistent sizing, gauge, and results. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a finished (or very nearly finished) sweater — and the confidence to say, “I made this.”

This is a small-group class with hands-on instruction, plenty of troubleshooting, and time for questions along the way.

Participants should be comfortable with:

• Knit & purl

What to bring:

• To ensure consistent sizing and gauge, this series uses a specific alpaca yarn. Yarn is not included in the class fee and must be purchased through The Crafty Lounge.
• Most sweaters will require approximately 7–9 balls of alpaca yarn (depending on size). We’ll help you choose the correct amount and color at the start of the series.
• Needles (5mm) are not included; participants may bring their own or purchase them in-store
