Description

Designed for both complete newbies as well as artists with some basic knowledge of screen printing who want more practice and instruction, you will learn the essentials of silkscreen printing in a full day of printing. 

All materials are provided. 

Techniques covered include the basic mechanics of printing and registration and working with various methods to construct a screen print: hand-cut stencils and drawing, photo transparencies, and spot color. 

The day will start with a collaborative group project to learn the mechanics of printing, a 2-3 hour lesson in multilayer hand-cut stencils. In the afternoon, each student will work independently on a multi-layer photo-emulsion print of their choosing. 

Students may bring source materials to print transparencies (at no extra cost), or work with hand-drawing, rubylith, or a combination of techniques.

Refund Policy

If you aren't able to attend a course that you've enrolled in, please reach out to us as soon as you know, at the very least 72 hours before the start of the first session of the course, and we can issue you a course credit in the amount of the tuition paid to take a different session. In the event of cancellation within 72 hours of the start of the first session or a no-show, the course fee is forfeit, and we can only issue a course credit at our discretion.

If a course is cancelled or dates are changed by us, you will be entitled to a course credit to enroll in a different section, or a full refund—your choice.

    Extremely good value & the size-of-class was perfect. Very informed, experienced & knowledgeable instruction. Shoestring Press is very much a laid back but WORKING studio which, for me, was comforting. It is not a prima dona's atmosphere. Introductory basics were covered as were more sophisticated techniques and everyone was encouraged to participate with a project of their own choice that was helpfully & patiently supervised. If there was a nit to pick it would be that the session could have a more structured introduction with a bit more history of the medium that would provide some perspective on the different approaches, possibilities, materials, limitations and strong suits. Overall it was well worth it.
