For those seeking authentic color and energy in New York City, Chinatown offers an unparalleled experience. Walk past roasted ducks displayed in shop windows, observe fresh fish and vibrant vegetables in bustling markets, and watch locals playing cards and Chinese checkers in neighborhood parks. The culinary scene is equally impressive. On this field composition outing, you will stroll the dynamic streets and discover the character of local shops and businesses that define this historic neighborhood.
Photography awaits around every corner, with brightly colored produce, architectural details, traditional storefronts, and the energy of street life. Close-up images of vegetables, fruits, and buildings with distinctive character present endless composition possibilities. Combining food photography with cultural exploration creates a unique learning opportunity.
Each Composition in the Field class begins with an instructional talk led by one of our experienced teachers. Afterward, you and your fellow students explore one of many photogenic locations across the 20-plus cities where the Digital Photo Academy operates. Students encounter opportunities for street photography, magnificent architectural interiors, farmers' markets, zoos, landscapes, and more. The course incorporates a diverse collection of student and instructor photographs from many different venues across the United States and Canada.
Over the three-hour session, you will enjoy the experience, learn strategic shooting techniques, capture more compelling images, and develop foundational skills to improve your photography in all settings, from travels to celebrations to everyday moments.
