Join your instructor for an explorative photographic journey through the magnificent and historic Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. Grand Central Terminal provides a spectacular photographic setting that beautifully showcases both architectural elements and vibrant human activity within a dynamic, constantly bustling environment. Students should plan to meet at the intersection of East 42nd Street and Vanderbilt Avenue near the terminal's main entrance.
Your experienced teacher will be present as you relax and simply "point and shoot," or, if you prefer, to offer more technical instruction on camera equipment and techniques that will allow you to work at a more advanced professional level. The group remains intentionally small and welcoming, ensuring plenty of individualized time for students regardless of their photographic interests, subject matter preferences, or current skill level. Digital Photo Academy has secured a permit allowing you to bring a tripod if you wish to use one.
Please meet just inside the 42nd Street Bryant Park entrance, located directly across from 33 West 42nd Street, which houses the SUNY College of Optometry Building.
Each Composition in the Field class begins with an instructional talk led by one of our experienced photography instructors. Following this introduction, you and your fellow classmates take a guided stroll through one of many photogenic locations offered by Digital Photo Academy across more than 20 cities nationwide. Potential subjects include street photography, magnificent interior spaces, farmers' markets, zoos, natural landscapes, and many other inspiring environments. The course features photographs taken by both students and instructors across numerous diverse venues in cities throughout the United States and Canada.
You will have a rewarding and enjoyable three-hour session where you learn to shoot strategically and intentionally, capture more interesting and compelling photographs of your subjects, and gain foundational skills to improve your photographic work in the future, whether you're traveling to exotic destinations, documenting birthday celebrations, or photographing everyday moments.
