- Casual lunch combined with a Photoshop editing lecture and photo shoot of Algonquin Park, including the historic 1828 gun powder silo and surrounding landscapes
- Sunset shoot of the Hudson scenic view for dramatic lighting
Take the Metro North commuter rail, a 90-minute train ride from Grand Central Station up the majestic Hudson River valley, and DPA staff will come pick you up at the Beacon Train Station. Alternatively, make the 90-minute scenic drive from the city yourself to DPA Headquarters at 15 Powder Mill Road, Newburgh, NY.
There are a number of Digital Photo Academy instructors in the photography community who are renowned landscape photographers and artists. They have been pursuing and capturing the light of the Hudson Valley for quite some time, and to show for it, they have thousands of spectacular images. Each image is featured with the glorious atmospheric conditions that brought international fame to the artists of the Hudson River School of Painting in the late eighteen-hundreds. That magnificent light is still here today, but it can be tricky to capture. The weather report can project sunlight at a certain time at a certain point, and when you set your camera up, the light is just not there. And a beautiful river scene goes dull if the light does not cooperate with your vision, so to deal with the unexpected weather and lighting conditions, the instructors have researched and photographed over fifty Hudson Valley locales that offer consistently beautiful golden light. If one spot is not cooperating with current conditions, just zip down the road a bit and work in another location.
