Alan is a good photographer and a good teacher: smart, pleasant, organized, knows his material. Right away bat he informed us that we would spend the day shooting in full manual mode, a plunge into the deep end for some of us, but exactly the push we needed to work at being better photographers. It was a productive and enjoyable day. I would seriously consider taking more classes at BKC.

Kathy was wonderful!!! She really ensured that we were on the right track with our cameras, gave us enough time to practice, and above all answered all of our questions. She even stayed a bit late to answer of few of my lingering questions that I had. I would definitely recommend taking this class!

Informative. Fun. Engaging. Learned so many things about my camera, its settings, easy tips, and how to use it more creatively and effectively. My instructor was great.

Excellent class. Learned an incredible amount about my camera, reinforced by ample shooting time. Kathy is wonderful teacher. She broke through my intimidation of all the menus and dials on my camera by demonstrating how simple the concepts really are. Her use of metaphors was a big help. My comprehension of how to use my camera is not only 100% more than it was before, but I am able to use what I learned in this class to actually understand the "Directions for Use" guide. I signed up for Field Guide II when I got home from this class.

This class was excellent - I've had my dslr for 2 weeks and taking this class taught me all I needed to know to get going in Manual mode. The instructor was wonderful- she clearly explained all concepts and answered all questions. She was happy to show you how to find what you were looking for on your camera. The only thing that would have made this class better would have been if it was warmer out so we could have done more test shooting outdoors.

I really enjoyed the Field Guide I Photography class. I've had my DSLR for a year and a half and I definitely feel I have a better understanding of how to use it and what those buttons really mean. Kathy broke everything down and was really helpful when we went outside to try our hand at setting aperture and shutter speed. I'm looking forward to getting creative with my pictures! If there is one thing I could recommend, and this is from someone who doesn't have any experience, is a more informative handout included with the syllabus. Perhaps include some helpful url's or tips to remember so students can refer to them after the course is complete. Other than that, I really enjoyed it! 6 hours wasn't enough!
