Class Description

Description

This course examines the fundamental issues and concerns central to abstract painting, exploring the essential function that drawing plays in developing your individual artistic voice and visual language. The class focuses on cultivating each artist's passion for creating abstract art through a diverse range of activities and investigations. Students study in particular how to explore personal inspiration and artistic ideas through the process of making, utilizing materials and techniques specific to their unique approach to develop these concepts into compelling and coherent visual compositions.

You are encouraged to draw source material and inspiration from subject matter that resonates personally with you, and to engage in critical dialogue with contemporary exhibiting artists whose work relates meaningfully to your own practice. Through this engagement, each artist will develop a deeper understanding of their own artistic inclinations, preferences, and the significant role these play in the creation of finished artworks. The ultimate goal of this course is to help you develop a cohesive and unified body of work that reflects your individual vision and artistic maturity.

The class welcomes artists at all skill levels and backgrounds.
