What you'll learn in this jewelry soldering class:

In working with thousands of students over the years, I’ve found soldering to be the least understood skill. Myths as well as only partially-understood truths abound. Let’s get down to the how and why soldering goes right and wrong. I will show you common soldering scenarios and the concepts behind them so your solder always flows. Just a teaser… the hottest part of the flame is not where you think it is.

Are materials provided and included in cost of the class? No,students can purchase all tools and supplies at the studio.

Materials you need to bring to class : For this course, students can bring their own supplies or purchase the following supplies:
  • Scissors, chain and round nose pliers, files, sandpaper, tweezers, dividers, soldering blocks, ruler, Sharpie marker, silver solders etc.
  • clean Solderite board 14.00
  • Magnesia block 12.00
  • stone tweezers for soldering 9.00
You will want to practice some of the demonstrated techniques on the spot, so you can bring fine or sterling wire, round or half round (any shape, really) to practice soldering ring shanks, bangles, and jump rings.
You can also bring fine or sterling silver sheet to practice soldering bezels down, etc.

If you are currently working on any projects, bring them also. We can troubleshoot any problems you might be having.

The class was very small, so we received a lot of individual attention. The instructor was excellent and very pleasant. The space was well equipped and comfortable. I would highly recommend it.
