Making neon is 50% dreaming and 50% muscle memory. In this intermediate technique-based neon course we will develop independent approaches to the practice and embed personal narratives in the glass. Students will dig into the materiality of neon with special focus on color, form and interactivity to uncover the dynamics of working with light as a tactile medium.
What to Expect: Bombarding and electrode attachment for 5 units of neon are included in this class, as well as a transformer (power) and wiring kit. Past 5 units, students will be charged for electrode attachment and pumping.
Eligibility: Previous experience bending neon is required. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: Neon tubes will be bombarded during the weeks of class, so students should leave with finished units of neon. Should processing take additional time, students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass. Health and safety guidelines will be emailed to you upon registration.
