In this class we will try to address any issue or problem that we may encounter during the cold glass working process. We’ll see together my personal way to do engraving and cold working, understanding how I normally overcome any barrier or problem I encounter. I’ll show you how I use all the equipment and tools even in a non- "conventional" way. And we’ll discuss anything you’re curious about, doubt or request.
What to Expect: Students can expect to watch a number of demonstrations and have time to practice coldworking on three objects using different techniques. Tools and materials will be provided. The cold shop equipment can be loud, and all equipment is water fed. Students should wear waterproof shoes, an apron, safety glasses, and ear protection are provided.
While working in the coldshop, working the equipment involves mostly standing, sometimes for long periods. Working glass on the equipment requires a certain amount of dexterity and grip.
Additional work time for intensive students: Students will also have access to additional hours in the hot shop, without instruction, on Wednesday - Saturday from 12-4pm. Students must be able to work safely in the studio, and be able to set up their area without needing instruction. Students participating in student hours will need to be approved by the instructor and TA’s.
Eligibility: No experience required. Open to ages 14 and up.
This is an in-person class taking place on-site at UrbanGlass.
