What you'll learn in this wood carving class:

Design and create an original utensil in solid hardwood! In this 1-day intensive, you will be introduced to methods of carving and shaping solid wood. Using the band saw, carving gouges, chisels, spokeshaves and rasps, you will create a utensil of your own design while focusing on the functionality, beauty and originality of the object. Included in this class is an introduction to band saw operation and safety for the purpose of roughing out shapes for carving.

Q: Is this class safe for pregnant women?
A: Yes, it's very safe. We have respirators available for both dust and finishing fumes.

Q: Are materials provided and included in cost of the class?
A: Yes. All tools, materials and safety equipment will be provided.

Wear shop-appropriate clothing - comfortable shoes and no loose or hanging items.

Bring a pencil and paper to take notes (optional).

Refund Policy

We reserve the right to cancel or discontinue any class, in which case you may choose to receive a refund, register for an alternate course or receive tuition credit.

To withdraw from a class, please notify us in writing at [email protected].

If you withdraw more than ten days before a class begins, we will refund 100% of tuition paid minus a 5% processing fee. Alternatively you can receive 100% refund in Makeville store credit which can be applied to a future class.
If you withdraw less than ten days before your class begins, we cannot offer any option for refund.

We are unable to refund tuition for classes students miss due to their own circumstances.

Overall great course but kinda bummed we all (at least 8 people) had to share 1 set of gouges for carving out the spoons
