Description

Spend the day mastering the fundamentals of hand-carving wood and exploring the creative possibilities of sculptural and decorative forms. You may bring your own design concept for a sculptural or decorative object, or you can freely improvise as inspiration strikes during the workshop. You will learn diverse carving techniques, discover the proper use and care of carving tools, explore approaches for working successfully with different wood types, and develop an understanding of wood characteristics, including grain structure and behavior.

Your ticket provides you with a selection from a diverse range of hardwoods, softwoods, local woods, and exotic woods to choose from, allowing you to work with the material best suited to your creative vision.

Note: The photograph shown above is an example of a completed carving that has been sanded and finished with a protective coating. It is intended to demonstrate the potential application of carving skills. Your finished piece will likely appear different from this example, reflecting your unique artistic choices and skill development during the class.

Refund Policy

  • Full refunds less a 5% processing fee will be offered for cancellations that occur 32 days or more before a program's registration deadline (if no deadline, the first day of the program).
  • Cancellations between 31 and 9 days will be offered a 50% refund or credit toward another class.
  • Cancellations after the registration deadline or within 8 days of the first day of class (whichever comes first) will not be refunded.
  • In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

  • Beginner Woodcarving

    I signed my husband and me up for this course as a surprise birthday gift for him, and it was a blast! Vince was great at showing us the ropes, offering guidance when we needed it, and also letting us do our own thing. It felt like a day at the shop with friends. We're looking forward to more classes here in the future, and definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in learning about woodcarving.

    It was so much fun! Vince, the instructor was patient and explained things when I asked so many questions! It was my first time wood carving and I made a hippo! All tools and materials were provided. Everybody was positive and supportive. I am definitely taking another class there.
