Reviews for Leather Classes in NYC

Leather Classes in NYC are rated 4.7 stars based on 346 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Had the most incredible time! The teacher was extremely knowledgable and I got to learn about all the steps in depth and had the teacher's whole attention to pep talk me through each step. Got to dye the leather and stamp a design! A much more rewarding experience than slapping together some metal and leather. If you're looking for leather or metal working classes go to Nazz Forge you won't regret it!!
  • The instructor explained all the steps very clearly. I was a little slower than the other people in the class but he made sure that I knew what was going on still.
  • I really enjoyed the class. The teacher was so kind and helpful, giving me great advice for each step! Highly recommend the class, I use the bag I made pretty much everyday!
  • Fantastic! Not only is the class well taught but our instructor was also kind, supporting, compassionate and very patient. Without any kind of previous experience we simply had to follow her guidance to create beautiful card holders. Thanks again, I am coming back soon!
  • This class was so much fun! I had no idea what to expect going into it. The instructors were friendly and helpful. And I absolutely love my new tote bag.
  • I loved the extensive training on dyeing the leather belt. I've taken other leather working class and they usually concentrate on the cutting, gluing/stitching. But honestly, the color is often the most important part. The difference between a commercial product and something that looks like you made it yourself is often the dye. If you want to experience the dyeing process, this is the class to take.
  • The instructor allowed each of us to create our own small leather project. I ended up making a subclass case. She taught me enough basic skills to feel comfortable investing in leather working as a hobby. I still make small leather goods today!
  • Ranger was fantastic! I would take another class with them any day. In between clear instructions and the fire playlist they let us take the lead on the sewing machines and helped us order food from a local spot so we didn't starve. Would definitely recommend this class.
  • Fantastic
  • Great class, my bag came out great! I learned a lot. I would recommend this class to everyone.
  • My adult son and I took this class and loved it. We picked our leather, cut it and hand sewed the wallet. The instructor was patient and kind - I messed up quit a bit. We are taking the skateboard making class next week and will definitely take more classes there. The location is convenient and the shop is very nice inside. I highly recommend this business.
  • The class was a lot of fun. The instructor was very patient. The set up is really cute. I would take another class there.
  • Amazing space, instructor, and class. Was super fun, creative and supportive. I’ll be taking another class here soon!
  • Great overall experience with the leather bag class. Max was attentive and hands on while keeping the class fun and easy going. Would recommend solo or as a group activity.
  • This class was phenomenal! I LOVE my bag. The instructor Will was helpful and made the class fun and the owner Chris was so welcoming and personable. 1000% everyone should take this class for their own custom leather tote bag. I’m obsessed with mine!
  • I had such a great time making the leather tote bag! I made friends, learned something new, and came home with a beautiful bag that I made!! The teachers were such a pleasure and I loved the space it was in. I cannot wait to go back and try date night with my fiancé.
  • Great fun and the most amazing class ever. Sander is a patient and caring teacher, My friends and I had a wonderful time.
  • zxCreate a Leather Wallet (Introduction to Leatherwork)

Love the small, intimate size of the class. The instructor was patient and eager to help us, but not overbearing. The owner of Craftsman Ave was available to help and also welcomed us to the class. Overall, I learned a lot and would definitely do it again!
  • My professor, and everything about this class was Spectacular!!!
  • Loved this class! Be prepared for it to go over schedule, working with leather is way more complicated than I thought! Even though it went over I had a BLAST. This is such a fun class in an inviting space :) I will be coming back for more
  • The Jam Master was lovely. The group that attended (total of five including the jam master and I) was quaint, cozy, witty and sweet. I really enjoyed the class...Lots of options of colorful leather or faux-leather, textures, thicknesses, studs, embossing, keychain option...I highly recommend this class. It was awesome
  • 2-Session Mini Bucket Bag Making

what a great class! personal attention payed to each student. i really learned so much!
  • Olivia was great! The class was fun and the wallets turned out beautifully!
  • Leather Working 101

It was a nice experience learning the basics of working with leather. Lix is a fun and a great teacher, now I feel confident to start fabricating my own pieces
  • Great instructor. Learned lots and had much fun. Can’t wait for another class.
  • The instructor was energetic and knowledgeable. Good quality leather and all the skills to make the project successful
  • Had a blast- The instructor was very nice, informative, patient with our questions and helped me fix the small mistakes I made. The studio was super cool and also welcoming! There were a couple of different patterns to offer options of different wallets. I love how mine came out and can’t wait to give it as a gift and boast about my handiwork!
  • Loved it
  • Great starter class!
  • It was a lot of fun! I learned a lot of nice information and my cluth is beautiful. Its really a lot for 2 hours class
  • Great course
  • Great! Fun, effective class!
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Mondays

Amazing class! If you want to learn shoes - come. Basically you get work at your own pace individualized instruction in shoemaking. If I can afford to (and this is the best bang for you buck class in NYC) I will keep re-enrolling in this class, as I learn something new with each pair of shoes I make
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

The output of the class is great - you learn a new skill and finish with a real, wearable shoe. But the other students are the best part of the class. People come from all sorts of backgrounds (finance, artists, writers, engineers, fashion, medicine, students) and it is inspiring to see their creativity and how each person's personality comes through in the shoes they've designed. More than I've experienced in any other class in New York, there is a real community that has been created in Emily's class.
  • Lona was very friendly and patient with everybody. She was also very flexible with the designs and encouraged to try various design details. This class was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
  • This was a really fun and informative class! I enjoyed myself and learned how to make a simple, elegant wallet. Great for a total beginner like me! Thank you!
  • Introduction to Leather Working

I wish it were longer, other than that, I adored Kat and the class ;)
  • Introduction to Leather Working

This was awesome! I learned so much and honestly can’t wait to finish my bag and make more.
  • Good
  • I Made That Bag- Bag making class.

    Awesome class!!
  • Claire was a terrific teacher! She was very knowledgeable and I learned some new sewing tricks. It was nice to step out of my comfort zone and learn about shoe making. I love my espadrilles.
  • Shoemaking (Beginner) - Sundays

Emily Putterman is an amazing teacher who gives her all to each student. Hats off to her! My boots came out awesome!!
  • Leather Working 101

Kat is extremely knowledgeable, and the class was a great introduction to the tools and basic skills needed to begin working with leather. It was more about pattern making and figuring out how to work with leather than about any one specific tool or tooling. Kat was very thoughtful in her approach and addressed everyone’s needs individually. She also had great resources to share for those of us who wanted to continue taking up leatherworking.
  • Bag Making & Bubbly Brunch

AMAZING!!! Lorna is an awesome teacher! Bubbly, laughs and two beautiful pieces to take home...that I made! A++
  • After Workshop: Leather Wallet

Kat was an awesome instructor! She was friendly, easy to follow, and taught us a lot of techniques in a short amount of time as we worked on our wallets. I made more of a clutch and I like how it came out. There were five of us in the class and that was a good number because she had time to spend with everyone, answering questions and helping us as we reached different stages of our work. Overall, great class!
  • One of the best classes I've taken. The cardholder you make looks super professional and you learn from a talent artist / designer / creator. Plus it's so fun to learn the technique which you can use to make other items. I look forward to taking another class with Hena.
  • Excellent one-on-one instruction with a lovely teacher. Will be going back.
  • Amazing!
  • Great!!
  • Awesome hands on class!
