This Illustrator 1 class covers all the basics. The teacher was very organized and clear in the explanations. It’s 4 classes so it’s not an overwhelming amount of information, but it covers enough and gives you the shortcuts to be able to use Illustrator in a basic way. I would recommend this class for anyone who wants to cover the fundamentals to use the program. -

Carla Douglass is a wonderful teacher! She is dedicated, talented, super positive and kind and will help you grow as a graphic artist. The assignments are fun and interesting and you will learn so much. We learned how to do a calendar, music festival logo, posters for the subway, a magazine cover, to emulate a famous graphic designer and how to make our sketches into moving cartoons (mp4 gifs) and how to make them into moving puppets. Also advanced functions such as creating patterns, 3d sketching and perspective. I loved every moment of this class and learned so much. She has a great sense of humor and will help you grow no matter where you are in your graphic design journey. I highly recommend anyone wanting to learn more about illustrator to take this class. She is a working art director and will give you honest feedback in a kind and humorous way on what is done in the commercial world of graphic design. If she were teaching another class I would take it in a heartbeat. If you do the all homework assignments, show up for every class and put in the time to improve you grow by leaps and bounds and be amazed at what you can do by the end of class. Thank you Carla for all that you've taught me! -

I would definitely recommend this class to anyone wanting to get started with illustrator, you will learn a lot and will be able to work with the program after the course! Looking forward to take more courses from the same instructor and the university. Also, after completing the course, getting certificate of completion was so good! -

Carla Douglas, Is a wonderful professor. She has a great sense of humor and you will be laughing while learning illustrator. I had fun with all the projects drawing a figure, making a rotosketch, making an infographic, designing a package. She cares about her students and takes the time to make sure that everyone is up to speed with all the tools in illustrator. I will be taking illustrator advanced with her. And really enjoyed this class. She is one of the best and brightest professors at Pratt and I wish she were teaching other subjects as well in graphic design. She is a working Art Director in graphic design and has practical working knowledge to share with all her students. I highly recommend anyone interested in learning how to use illustrator to take this class. I had so much fun learning and she promoted a very supportive and caring environment for everyone no matter what level you are at. By the end of class people who did not know how to use illustrator at all had projects that were amazing! -
