Sewing Machine Classes in NYC are rated 4.8 stars based on 335 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Great class to introduce you to working a sewing machine! Jessica, the teacher, was patient and explained things really well. My class only had two other students so we go through the project pretty quickly and got extra help when needed. Will be taking more classes here for sure!
  • Was a great course to relearn the basics of a machine and sewing. Completed a simple tote project and Anna even helped me look at my own machine after class so I felt comfortable starting projects at home. Couldn’t recommend more for anyone starting or getting back into sewing looking for a refresher
  • Class was great. We learned all the machine basics, including maintenance. The instructor was very knowledgable and helpful. I wish we got to thread the machine ourselves as that process didn't seem super intuitive, but we did get to practice using the machine and got to make our own push pins, which was awesome.
  • the class was everything i expected and more . the teacher was fantastic .
  • The sewing class was excellent! The teacher was very attentive, explained everything clearly, and gave us a great foundation to understand and explore the world of sewing. An inspiring and very rewarding experience!
  • Great instructor! Great Class! I'm going to be coming back for more classes and I'm excited to learn how to finally sew in a straight line
  • So much fun! The class made sewing feel more accessible and doable! Teacher was very helpful and I feel like I can do some sewing at home now!
  • Emily was excellent loved the project. Would definitely take another class soon!
  • Instructor was helpful, patient and knowable. I'll be back. Thank you!
  • Such a fun and informative course! I left ready to use my personal sewing machine with all my questions answered!
  • Loved the sewing class. Diana is an amazing and caring instructor!!!
  • The teacher explained everything in a clear manner, demonstrated and helped us as we worked. I am going to take the 101 next!
  • Quick and effective basics workshop! Instructors were clear, helpful, and answered all my questions.
  • I thought the instructor was always well prepared. She spent time answering everyone's questions and worked with everyone. The class made you want to sew.
  • It was a fairly small class and the instructor was able to give equal attention to everyone. Not to mention, she was very thorough and knowledgeable. The class got me excited about sewing again and I still use the tote bag I made that day frequently!
  • I was an electronics engineer and in my retirement I learned 3D-printing, laser cutting, advanced woodworking and more at a makerspace. But the makerspace didn't have sewing and I didn't know how to shorten pants or even use a sewing machine to stitch a top loop on the stretchy green-screen fabric I use for my ZOOM session backgrounds. I also want to change a flannel shirt or two that I have with tuck-in tails to flat-bottomed so I don't have to tuck them inside my pants. I have no desire to make clothes from scratch. I now feel confident I can sew what I wanted to sew with what I learned in this course and some online research. The course had a relaxed friendly atmosphere and instructor Diana Rogers roamed the room giving each student considerable individual attention. After the first class, my wife and I finally ditched our 20-plus-year-old sewing machine that was giving her trouble, and purchased a new Singer sewing machine for less than $200 that is similar to the Singers we used in class. I highly recommend this course.
  • I really wasn't sure if I'd be ok as a complete novice in this class, but I was and had the BEST time! Two hours flew by. The instructor was a pleasure to work with and I love my little not-so-perfect tote bag. A reminder of which skills I need to work on.
  • So great! The teacher was incredibly clear and friendly. The space was beautiful. Wish this was a weekly course with different garments to sew!
  • This class was great! Laryssa did a great job as the instructor and was very patient and helpful. I made a cute tote bag and feel confident in my sewing skills moving forward. Will be going back!
  • The instructor was extremely patient and very clear with instructions. I'm definitely more confident about attempting to try more sewing projects in the future.
  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

The day of my class it was raining cats, dogs, and hogs! I was soaked from the downpour and arrived to class a few minutes late but the instructor graciously made what was a gloomy day, bright and fun. After picking out some cute fabric from their selection, I learned to make a pouch that I carry in my purse daily. It's a fun reminder of the day I learned something new and fun!
  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

Amazing, I went there to learn something minor and they taught me very well and very professional.
  • The instructor was knowledgeable and patient. She identified the parts of the sewing machine, demonstrated each step of the sewing task, and helped students individually, if needed. The sewing room was clean and materials were prepared in advance of the class. After completing the tote bag, the instructor answered questions and allowed participants to continue practicing, using fabric scraps.
  • Amazing will be returning for more projects.
  • A great way to refreshen my skills on the sewing machine. When I hadn’t used the machine in awhile I forgot all the helpful hints that were offered. It was a relaxed and informative class.
  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

Great course! Teacher was very informative. Would recommend to beginners
  • I enjoyed the class very much and look forward to taking more classes for sewing when I can. Emily is extremely nice and also very patient and helpful. I think I would benefit from sewing boot camp
  • Loved it! So thorough and helpful. I forgot my instructor's name but she was awesome.
  • Good instructions
  • Excellent class with a good instructor
  • Beginner Sewing was a very informative start to sewing, and the instructor, Jenny, was responsive and extremely thoughtful in assisting with questions at each step. I'm looking forward to taking further instructions!
  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

My daughter's private lesson with sewing machine basic has had a positive influence on her to continue sewing clothes and making tote bags for herself and family members. Since taking her first class at Sewing machine basics, she has expanded her knowledge in sewing by creating new patterns, learning alterations (using her jeans), and hemming. I am very proud of her and hope she continues to grow in this endeavor. The instructor was amazing, kind, and supportive. An excellent role model for kids who enjoy sewing and creating crafts.
  • The class was small so there was more individualized instruction. Our teacher was sweet and patient and took her time explaining all the steps to the students! Great class! Just booked another class with them! :)
  • So fun! I was expecting to be a bit overwhelmed by the sewing machine but the instructor made the class easy to follow and really entertaining. Now I just want to learn more and keep practicing.
  • This was a great intro/refresher class for anyone who wants to start using a sewing machine. The instructor was very clear, patient and kind, and the finished tote bag we made is really nice! I'm already registered for more classes!
  • Clear, concise instructions. Will look to come back for more!
  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

Cute setup offering sewing classes. I worked with Larissa who was so patient and answered all of my questions. For a little extra they will set you up with a basic project to take home. I loved it.

  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

My daughter and I attended a basic class with Larissa (I believe that was her name). She was amazing!!! She explained everything really well and took her time showing us how to use the machine. She answered all of our questions and made sure we understood before moving on. We are definitely going to come back for another class with her! We felt so accomplished :)
  • Great class! We were able to get a lot covered in a 2 hour window
  • Diana, the teacher is an excellent patient teacher. I would absolutely take her class again.

Great instructor. She was patient and informative. Would recommend this course!
  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

Chloe was so helpful and a great teacher! She was patience and explained everything so well! Would love to take another class from her!
  • It was a very fun and informative class. I’ve been avoiding sewing machines all my life because they were frustrating to learn on my own. This class made it so simple! I hardly had any issues making the project. I recommend if you are feeling timid about learning. It’s worth it!
  • The instructor is very knowledgeable about sewing and is there to really guide you as you make your project. She explains everything without making assumptions that you know something about sewing which is good because it reinforces or corrects what you think you knew. Students were at different levels but she was able to accommodate all levels of learning.
  • Best teacher I learned fast Everything good
  • Sewing Machine Basics (1-Hour Private)

    1. I was able to get all my immediate questions answered 2. Class was well paced and she kept evaluating how much I could grasp 3. She tried to cover all my key wants from the one-one class Overall was quite satisfied with the class and Junelle’s helpful inputs .
  • Fantastic instructor. Very knowledgeable and patient. Would def recommend this to others.
