This Lightroom course is designed to teach students how to import, export, organize, edit, and share their photographs.

Adobe Lightroom is an amazing program that has been designed to offer an end-to-end solution for photographer’s workflow (downloading, organizing, editing and sharing). Now you can learn exactly how to get started, and see how it can help you achieve the quickest, easiest results for your digital workflow needs.

In this class we will cover the basics of Lightroom. We will also make a comparison between Photoshop and Lightroom, which will show you the differences between both programs. This class will cover the fundamentals to managing your digital photographs, making them easier to view and most of all, share!

What you will learn in this course:
  • Importing and Exporting
  • Digital Workflow
  • Organization
  • Backing up your images
  • Sharing your photographs
Since this class is all about your computer, you must have enough computer savvy to take it. If you are new to a Mac computer or have yet to master it, we strongly recommend that you take Mac 101, which will make your Lightroom class easier to comprehend.

To make your learning experience enjoyable we recommend using your personal computers in the class. The school can provide Mac laptops for students that don’t have laptops.

Note: Editing will be covered in Lightroom II.

Pre-requisite:
  • Photography I: or clear understanding of Manual mode.
  • Mac 101: or a clear understand of your Mac computer such as organizing your images, downloading and naming your files, and being able to use key shortcuts.

Question from BKB B.
Hello! I don't need much help with organization and the more computer oriented knowledge this is describing. However, I need a lot of help/learning with editing/color correcting photos in large quantities, in particular making them look vintage. Will this course go into depth with this?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! Lightroom is a program with many modules. Its most important module is “Library” that is designed to help photographers with their organization. This is different to organizing picture and files on the computer. Lightroom is a great tool that photographers use for organization, editing, creating albums and much more.
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Our Intro to Lightroom gives students an overall understanding of the different modules with its main focus on organizing in Lightroom. You may check Editing in Lightroom here: https://coursehorse.com/nyc/classes/art/photography/lighting/editing-in-lightroom1
