Question from Anonymous
Hello, I had a question about the Drawing for Accessory Design Studio class taking place in Chelsea, Manhattan from the dates of Oct 13-Oct 27 for three sessions. Are there any education prerequisites required before someone is allowed to purchase and take this course? Is someone required to have a G.E.D. or any college credits before they are allowed to sit for this course? Please let me know when you get a chance. Thanks. Sincerely, Mustafa K. Nouri
Answer from Georgia C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Mustafa! This class doesn't have any prerequisites, anyone can attend the class. You don't need any G.E.D or any college credits. A student does not have to know how to previously sketch in order to take this course.

Question from Beatriz R.
What are the fabric swatches for? How large do they have to be? How many should I bring?
Answer from Wanda V. Verified Student
The swatches can be used to base your design concept on. They are not always used in class. If you have access to a fabric store then I would say go for it. Get about 10 small pieces (size is whatever the store offers). If you cannot get to a store then don't stress it. Other students will have swatches and you can still see their purpose. Have FUN!
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hey Beatriz! The fabric swatches are for inspiration and learning how to sketch fabric prints. Most fabric stores will give free swatches of fabrics. The size that they give is about 2-3 inches. If the person has fabric for sewing at home, they can cut a piece of them each and bring it in. 4-5 pieces will be good. Hope this helps!

Question from PREZINA L.
Do you have to know how to sketch?
Answer from Sarah S. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
No, the student does not have to know how to previously sketch in order to take this course.
Answer from ivhea k. Verified Student
Not necessarily. The teacher gives you tracing paper at first, to make you trace over accessories from your inspiration pictures, to train your hand. Then, he makes you switch to free hand sketching, at your pace. He starts with shoes, which are not complicated shapes.

This is my second time taking this course and it still had a lot to offer. Steven Broadway creates a creative environment that makes learning technique less intimidating.

This is a great class to learn how to draw and design fashion accessory. The instructor Steven Broadway provides drawing exercises and tips for people of any level (Beginners - Advance) to jump right in and begin drawing. His guidance will help you create amazing designs you probably never imagined you can do. The course can be offered in 3 or 4 hour segments but the time goes by fast. Steven provides music to help support a creative fashionable atmosphere. This course compliments Steven's Fashion Beginners Studio perfectly. Note: be prepared by bringing a couple of fashion magazines that will be used for accessory reference.
