Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this film studies class:

What does it mean to package a film, and where do you begin? How do you keep your financing models current? How do you stay afloat? And how do you do it all on an indie budget? This course offers a deep dive into US and international film financing, aiming to demystify the entire process and equip you with tools to create a package of your own.

In this class, we will go through the development process of creating the packaging elements needed for your investor presentation in order to raise financing throughout the different stages of your project. Learn to specifically identify the various methods used by today’s filmmakers in structuring and raising financing. Walk away with actionable tips and tricks for developing, planning and producing an independent feature film with budgets under $5MM.

The course is taught by Kevin Christoffersen, who has been producing content internationally for two decades. His current initiatives include the sourcing, development, acquisition and distribution of TV series, feature films and new media technologies.

The first class will offer a broad overview of film financing, from public, to private, to debt and others. The second class will focus on packaging elements you’ll need for your film: business plans, investment presentations, lookbooks, shooting schedules, and more. After the first two classes, you’ll take what you’ve learned and come to the third class prepared to workshop your project (if you have one); you’ll bring your own package and work through anything you might be missing and what you need to change to set yourself up for success.

What You Will Learn
