Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this film production class:

Gain an understanding of how and why content executives arrive at the decisions they do.

Television, film, and digital service executives are juggling numerous considerations as they assess new projects. They are dealing with a cooperate structure, fixed parameters, and set targets. In this class, you will get an understanding of the choices an executive has to make when reviewing your project.

The instructor Ray Giacopelli, who has worked a decade in programming and research at AMC Network, will explain how the content world evolved into what it is today; and how that effects the measures and definitions of “success”. The aim of the course is to provide you inside information that will help you prepare when you pitch your project to a content gatekeeper.

What You Will Learn
  • An understanding of how and why content executives arrive at the decisions they do.
  • Understanding why the industry is set up as it is and what it takes to get in.
  • Learning the practical attributes that can make your project more (or less) desirable to prospective distributors … from creative and economic standpoints.
  • Understanding the importance of demographics and target audiences.
  • Knowing the ultimate end-game, from all perspectives … how to make sure that your goals and those of the executive are met so your project is seen as a success for all
