Intro to the Tarot

For many people, the old year closes out with a certain amount of frantic cleaning and gift-buying for the Yuletide, followed by a brief respite to digest, then onto New Years’ celebrations. January – whether you greeted New Years Day fresh and excited or slightly hungover! – is an excellent time for doing some divination to prepare oneself for your coming year’s adventures, opportunities and challenges. This class will be mixture of Tarot theory and practice, with a particular focus on New Year readings. We will go over foundational features (like the Four Suits and the Elements) as well as the philosophy of how Tarot is analyzed (most usually, using Hermetic Qabalah and the Tree of Life). We will also introduce and investigate different kinds of reading spreads: 7-card Planetary spread, the popular 10-card Celtic Cross, and even 3-card Quick Decision readings. We will also explore supporting magical techniques and resources to sharpen your Tarot skills, and make the most out of your reading results – including using Tarot cards in spellcraft and divination! After the class, Dr Cummins will be offering 20 minute New Years' Tarot Readings.
