Our one-week Kids Explorations in Musical Theatre Camp is a fully immersive dive into the world of song, story, and performance, designed for young performers who want to explore what it means to be a musical theatre artist.
Throughout the week, students experience how all the elements of musical theatre work together: the storytelling, the movement, the vocal performance, and the collaborative spirit that makes theatre unlike any other art form. The camp is structured to challenge students creatively while keeping the experience joyful, supportive, and genuinely exciting.
The Camp Explores:
- The foundational elements of storytelling and how improvisation serves narrative work
- Collaborative ensemble skills and the craft of making theatre as a group
- Scene study with a focus on truthful character behavior and objectives
- Song interpretation: how to find the emotional truth within a lyric and express it authentically
- Basic staging and movement in a musical context
- Introduction to The Barrow Group's approach to performance, applied specifically to the demands of musical theatre
The week culminates in a showing for family and friends, giving students the experience of performing and sharing their work with a supportive audience. This is one of the most exciting and rewarding parts of the camp, and students consistently arrive at the final day with a level of confidence and readiness that surprises even themselves.
These camps are designed to be taken multiple times. Each session features different material, different scene partners, and new challenges, so returning campers continue to grow with every experience.
All instructors at The Barrow Group School have completed the school's comprehensive teacher training program, which means your child is learning from educators who have studied this specific approach to acting and storytelling in depth. That level of pedagogical consistency makes a real difference in the quality and intentionality of the teaching your child receives.
