Do you own a sewing machine and have no idea how to use it? Are you thinking of buying one, but have no idea where to start? Do you have a hankering to learn to sew and wanna try a basics class? Are you tired of paying the tailor way to much money to hem your pants?
Do you have a pile of pants, jeans and/or skirts that could totally be worn, if only you could get the hem fixed or shortened? Do you wanna refresh those skills from 8th grade home-ec?
In this class, we'll spend the first hour on learning how to sew and the second hour learning how to hem.
Intro to the Sewing Machine includes:- threading the sewing machine
- threading the bobbin
- filling an empty bobbin
- using the different stitch selections
- understanding how to change stitch length and width
- understanding thread tension
- and of course, using a modern sewing machine
We think you'll leave feeling no longer intimidated by the sewing machine, with a better understanding of how it works and how it can be used.
Hem Workshop Includes:- How to do a casual hem using a sewing machine
- How to do a more formal blind (unseen) hem, by hand
- Class will be spent doing practice hems on scraps of fabric shaped like the bottoms of pants. You are able to bring one item to class that needs hemming. If there is time, you can hem it.
Learning how to hem will easily pay for itself in the very first hem you do. You’ll leave the class ready to hem anything and everything, even if you don’t own a sewing machine.
In this class, we'll spend the first hour on learning how to sew and the second hour learning how to hem.
