Class Description

Description

Has the bankruptcy of Kodak got you down? Worried that film might go away forever? Well, worry not.

In this workshop, Lisa will teach students how to create their own glass negatives in camera from scratch. Students will learn the techniques of preparing the plate, pouring collodion, exposing, developing, fixing and varnishing as well as chemical mixing and safety.

In addition, students will learn the nuances of printing from a glass negative, and how to print from a glass negative using gelatin silver paper and 4x5 enlargers.

Workshop participants will be using 4x5” wood reproduction wet plate cameras all equipped with antique brass lenses. The cameras, chemicals, enlargers, darkrooms, and materials will be supplied.
