Chicago's largest recreational cooking school and gourmet retail store, offers demonstration and hands-on cooking classes, as well as wine classes, private cooking parties and corporate team building events. Classes at our two locations cover subjects from cooking basics to intensive Boot Camps as well as seasonal, date nights, healthy and kids classes.

Attended: Knife Skills PLUS

My wife had the flu and we were not able to reschedule the course. It’s disappointing that this was our first class with Coursehorse and also with ChoppingBlock. Very poor first experience and a waste of $150. If it was $15, I could see not letting us reschedule, but for them to say try and show up (and get everyone sick!?!), come on. It is not like we were asking for a refund. Please correct this problem. - Jeff

Attended: Sushi Workshop

Loved what I saw and learned. Could have been a bit more brisk in pace to learn and/or practice more. Two points about the order and layout of the class. By the time we were able to enjoy what we made, the rice had already started to dry out and I did not enjoy eating it. And, if I would have sampled my first roll before moving on to making the inside out roll, I would have used far less rice. I got a thumbs up from Jason, but both rolls had way too much rice. Lastly, I felt that we quickly ran out of the really good ingredients: spicy tuna, salmon and radish. Vasilios Smith

The class was very informative. I think it would be better if we ate each sushi roll immediately after they were made, instead of waiting till the end because the rice gets a little hard.


Attended: Pasta Workshop

We really enjoyed the pasta workshop and certainly learned so much - I even bought a pasta machine ! I hope to take more pasta classes in the future so count on seeing us again. Thank you for a very enjoyable afternoon !

Loved this class. All of the instructors were super knowledgeable, kind, and easy to follow. Loved that we were given some freedom to be creative, AND we got to leave with a bunch of delicious cookies!

The instructor was very rude and impatient. The food was bland with the exception of the food made by the assistant. The food made by the assistant was terrific.

I truly truly loved it, any more canning and preserving classes would be great. I would enjoy learning how to can tomatoes and green beans, and learn to make kruat and kimchi. Thank you so much for this class, if I get a chance to do it again I surely will.

This was one of the best informal classes I have ever had. The instructors were super professional and helpful. The recipes were easy, and the products were delicious. I've already recommended these classes to multiple family members and friends!
