Chicago's largest recreational cooking school and gourmet retail store, offers demonstration and hands-on cooking classes, as well as wine classes, private cooking parties and corporate team building events. Classes at our two locations cover subjects from cooking basics to intensive Boot Camps as well as seasonal, date nights, healthy and kids classes.

The description of the class was very on point, however I did think the class was a little overcrowded and the knives not all sharpened beforehand. Because there were too many people the second half of the class when we actually practiced was not very useful. That being said, the instructors were great and the Chopping Block was awesome as always.
One of the most fun things I've ever done. The class was orchestrated excellently by our two chefs, Aida (also designed the class) and another pretty woman whose name I cannot remember. I went by myself, but I would highly recommend this as a date night. The last 45 mins of the 3 hour class were spent relaxing, drinking, and eating the food we had made. You get to take home leftovers. Most wine is sold by the bottle with just 2-3 being offered by the glass.
I wanted to take this class because of my curiosity about making bagels and thoroughly enjoyed it! Chef Leia and assistant (sorry her name escapes me) were wonderful, informative, and fun! They even allowed us to go a little off topic which enhanced the experience. We learned how to make bagels, cheese blintzes with blueberry sauce, cucumber dill salad, and smoked salmon. Loved the salmon so much I couldn't bear leaving without a stovetop smoker (wish I could've left with one of those KitchenAid mixers as well but hey). I highly recommend this course and The Chopping Block! I'm signed up for another course and hope to do more!
Melissa was very informative and the class flew by. It was great!
Good class, great instructor, good selection of donut types/flavors. Wish we worked in groups of 2 or 3 instead of 4.
I really enjoyed myself! Chef Melissa was very welcoming and informative. The food was delicious!
The class was very fun and truly quite amazing. Conquered my fear of pasta and learned that I can have fresh pasta any night of the week. Made in minutes!! The teaching staff were very informative and engaging which really put me at easy.
Good quick demo class to take during lunch hour from work. They have different recipes every class and the one I went to was on braised pork which was delicious! I also appreciate the opportunity to ask related questions I've always had from my own cooking experience. I think this could be something that you would take your co-worker to as well.
A quick class I was able to stop by during my lunch time at work. You'd not get any hands-on experience in this class since it is too short but I have no complaints about it. I still got good recipes and tips from the awesome chef!
The instructor was excellent! She was very organized and detailed. She presented the information in a logical way and paced the class so that all could keep up but we were still able to accomplish all we set out to do. There was a second instructor who would float around and help us as well. We learned why chefs use certain knives for certain tasks and the types of basic chef's cuts for food. I would definitely recommend this class for anyone, as well as recommend taking other classes at the Chopping Block.
