What you'll learn in this kids programming class:

In our Game Design and Development course, students learn basic video game coding concepts by making different types of games, including racing, platform, launching, and more! Students will learn about the different genres of games and how computer science is redefining the entertainment industry. In the process, they learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for everyone in today’s society. 

This class is suitable for ages 7-11. By the end of this program, students will be ready to take on more complex visual programming courses and be on their way to learning text-based coding languages like HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

At the end of this class, students will learn:

  • Visual Programming fundamentals
  • Algorithms and Sequences
  • Engineering design principles
  • Principles of game design
  • Game genre

Students learn the following STEAM lessons

Storytelling: Students use games to tell fun and interactive stories. Storytelling emphasizes creativity by encouraging students to tell a unique story through game development.

Music & Sound: By integrating music and sound into their games, students learn the basic concepts of multimedia design.

Arts: Students create animations, interactive artwork, photograph filters, and other exciting, artistic projects.

Design: Students learn how computer science and technology are used in the design while building realistic game scenes similar to professional games.

Sports: Students use game development skills to simulate sports, make their own fitness gadget commercial, and create commentary for a car sporting event.

Technology: Students learn basic video game coding concepts by making different types of games, including racing, platform, launching, and more!

Children pick up words fast and we understand this so we ensure our instructors act and speak professionally yet simple enough for kids to begin to familiarize the terms in technology very early

Refund Policy

For all class packages:

  • Class packages are non-refundable unless a cancellation request is received in writing to [email protected] within 14 days before the class start date or within the first 48 hours following purchase.
  • A course can be substituted based on the availability of seats if a request is received within 14 days before the class starts.
  • Credits or substitution of classes will not be provided for missed sessions. 
  • Rescheduling of sessions must be made at least 24 hours in advance. “No-shows” or cancellations without rescheduling on time, will result in a forfeited session. Any unused sessions will be forfeited. 

For Winter 2020 Afterschool & Saturday Classes:

  • Sessions must be used during the timeframe of January 11, 2020 and February 29, 2020 and are non-refundable. Any unused sessions are forfeited.
  • Tech Dream Lab reserves the right to cancel or not offer class hours on specific days or times due to holidays, staffing issues, or inclement weather. In the case of a class cancellation, we will notify parents and guardians by email.

Summer/Winter/Spring Half-Day and Full-Day Camps: Camp sessions must be paid in full by the start date.

If you wish to cancel your child’s summer camp you will receive the following refund based on the date of written cancellation:

  • >30 days: 75% refund of camp session fee
  • 29-15 days: 50% refund of camp session fee
  • 14-7 days: 25% of camps session fee
  • <7 through the camp: no refunds. 

Other terms: 

A $35 fee will be assessed for charges to credit cards that are declined or returned checks. This fee will be in addition to any fee charged by your banking institution. Please remember to promptly update your credit card or checking account information if your account number or expiration date changes.
