Drawing I Drawing is the basis for all art ? all students are welcome: beginners who wish to learn the basics, to more advanced students who wish to strengthen their skills. We will explore different drawing materials and practice the fundamentals including line, proportion, volume, value, perspective, and more.
WSS provides three opportunities each week for students and others to practice their figure work from the model in a monitored but non-instructed basis. We encourage all students to take advantage of these sessions! They are available to WSS students and outside artists as well.
Participants explore this flexible, fabulous feast of color, leaving class with hands and clothes clean. Studying still life and photos, students learn about color, layering, mixed media, and solvent techniques and the rich textures afforded by various papers. Drawing experience is recommended.
In this class students will increase their understanding of and comfort with rendering the human figure. You will learn basic observation and measuring skills, and how to render the figure three-dimensionally through the use of light and shadows. Students will be able to create figure studies in pencil, charcoal and pastel.
