What you'll learn in this soap making class:
In this workshop with La Shonda Tyree, who turned her hobby and passion for making her own soaps and lotions into a highly successful business, we will learn how to make a range of exquisite self-care products. We will begin by discovering the history and chemistry of soapmaking, and the safety practices required to manufacture soap. We will then get hands-on instruction in soapmaking using sodium hydroxide with the cold process method.
We will explore how to unleash our creativity by customizing our soaps with colors, fragrances and/or essential oils; learn how to create luxurious soaps using alternative liquids such as Goat’s Milk; and make fabulous swirl patterns and embedding designs utilizing a couple of different methods that will make your soaps rival mass market soaps.
Other topics will include:
Special Note: A materials fee of $45 will be payable to the instructor. Participants will take home approximately 5 pounds of soap equavalent to 12 bars of handcrafted soaps ($84 retail value).
Please dress comfortably.

- All payments are non-refundable. If you find that you will not be able to attend a class please refer your options below.
- Rescheduling/Full Credit:
- Please contact [email protected] to reschedule a class for any reason to another class being offered.
- You can reschedule a class as long 8 business days advance notice is given.
- Partial Credit:
- If you need to cancel a class and it is less than 8 business days before the registered class but more than 3 business days before the scheduled class a 50% credit can be applied to registering to another class being offered.
- No Show:
- If you do not show up for a class for any reason your class registration is NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-Transferable and NO CREDIT will be given toward any future class.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
