The course was expertly addressed. The teacher took time but not too long to make sure everyone in the class was up to speed. The students varied in excel skill level but with an Intermediate class nothing took too long for everyone to fully grasp. I think the teacher thoroughly went through exercises and practice problems. Sometimes even called on students to complete exercises in front of the classroom. Everyone was called on about once and if you really do not know you do not need to go up. It's more of a way of making you feel proud of figuring it out. I will definitely be back for a higher level course! Thanks again!

The instructor was amazing - the content was well made, in an order that made sense and easy to follow. The instructor's timing was spot on - it was clear she had done this many times before. She was helpful, patient & kind. This class went by surprisingly fast for as long as it was because of how structured the agenda was. I will be taking other courses here.

Los Angeles Industries That Use Excel

Excel is a staple across industries where large volumes of data are gathered and must be organized and analyzed, such as in the finance sector, commerce, and engineering. Professionals in fields like auditing, market research, software development, business analytics, and statistics work with this spreadsheet application to perform a range of data tasks that would take much longer to complete manually. The following sections will take a closer look at the role Excel plays in various Los Angeles industries.

Auditing

Auditing involves reviewing and evaluating an organization’s financial records. Auditors use Excel’s PivotTables to perform fast and accurate data filtering and analysis. Auditors who use PivotTables are able to generate reports that provide insights into audit planning considerations. It allows them to spot any discrepancies in the numbers as well. In addition, Excel helps Auditors create data visualizations like charts and graphs. With the help of Excel’s formula audit tools, these professionals can analyze financial records with great accuracy and speed.

Market Research Analytics

Those who work in market research must handle vast amounts of data. This information pertains to customer feedback, sales numbers, product pricing, or insights into buying patterns. To handle this vast amount of data, Market Research Analysts rely on Excel to perform data analysis to translate this market information into actionable insights. These professionals work with several Excel functions and features, such as advanced formulas and PivotTables, to make sense of data. Senior Market Research Analysts rely on this app to solve problems and formulate strategic plans. In addition, Excel’s solver add-in can be used to establish optimal product pricing. Excel’s data analysis toolkit helps Market Research Analysts forecast how impactful an ad will be for product demand or anticipate which attributes will drive product sales. Excel also allows these professionals to create custom dashboards that track important aspects, such as KPIs or website conversion events, to help them formulate a better understanding of what drives customers to purchase a product or service.

Software Development

Software Developers in Los Angeles use a range of tools and software to organize and analyze large volumes of data. This data comprises information like error codes, user data, or performance metrics. Excel provides a way for Software Developers to easily perform data manipulation tasks and create data visualizations based on their findings. These charts and graphs are helpful for locating data trends and patterns, as well as for sharing these insights in an accessible manner.

It’s often easier for Software Developers to use Excel to manipulate medium-sized datasets than it is to rely on custom code. Additionally, Excel is useful for creating project management spreadsheets that keep track of project deadlines, progress on various tasks, and which team members are assigned to which project. Because Excel is easy to customize and allows for real-time collaboration, it’s an effective and powerful tool for software development projects that involve multiple team members.

Business Analytics

Those who work in the business sector use Excel for a range of business-related tasks. This spreadsheet application is so popular in the business world that over half of businesses use Excel. Because of how much data is gathered by most businesses, such as information on website traffic, insurance claims, supply spending, or product sales, Excel is a useful tool for keeping it organized and ensuring important values can be located within the data. By uncovering data patterns, Business Analysts can share their findings with decision-makers who can apply these insights to their recommendations for organizational changes. Often, Business Analysts collaborate with others who work on their team, as well as those from other departments or external stakeholders. Excel’s features for collaboration provide a way for them to share workbooks in real-time with others involved in a project. Business Analysts use Excel’s IF formulas to filter data using specified criteria. With the help of VLOOKUP, Business Analysts can find the values they need within tables or columns. In addition, they use Excel’s coding language, VBA, to create macros that can automate repetitive tasks.

Statistics

Those in Los Angeles who work with statistics also rely on Excel to perform a variety of tasks. Statisticians use this app to improve productivity and efficiency when working on various jobs. Excel has features that allow them to handle large datasets, perform fast and accurate data analysis, and create sharable reports. Some of Excel’s functions were designed specifically to be used for statistical analysis, such as mode, mean, median, and standard deviation. These functions allow Statisticians to quickly spot and understand various patterns or trends in the data, as well as to locate outliers. In addition, Excel’s charting capabilities are useful for Statisticians who wish to visualize data into basic charts such as line charts or bar charts, or employ more complex visualizations like bubble charts or scatterplots.
