Level 1A Beginning Photography
This class is great! I learned so much. Matthew really helped me learn MY camera and I feel confident taking great photos. I highly recommend this class. -
Master Your Digital Camera Controls (Los Angeles)
Really enjoyed the experience. Learning the controls and navigating the camera was what I wanted to accomplish by taking the course. Adding the next session which allowed me to experiment and apply techniques learned from the previous session was most beneficial to better understand the different aspects of the camera. -
Digital Photography Live In-the-Field @ Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden
I purchased the Digital Photography Live-In-The-Field at the L.A. Arboretum course for my father for his birthday. He loved it! Mom had just bought him a high-end mirrorless camera, which was above his skill level since he had really only used a point-and-shoot in the past. So, to get him comfortable with his new camera in the field, I thought this course would be a good fit. Dad really enjoyed it and captured some beautiful nature shots and has since created some treasured family photo memories for us since taking this course. The instructor was very approachable, took his time with the students, and facilitated a fun and educational experience. Dad said he would definitely take this or a similar photography class from Coursehorse again, and I look forward to joining him next time, as I also am an amateur photog. This experience makes for a terrific gift. My parents are in their '70s, so I am finding that they value experiences over material items at this age. Therefore, classes from Coursehorse represent the perfect gift for them. -
Introduction to Digital Photography
Loved this class! It's amazing how complicated digital cameras and photography are today. I learned so much in this class but still have a lot to learn. The teacher was really chill and made learning and asking questions stress-free. -
Master Your Digital Camera Controls (Los Angeles)
The class was worth my time. The setting (Griffith Park Observatory) was perfect for instruction. The instructor was knowledgeable and helped me to understand how to make the most of the limited options available on my digital camera. I would recommend the course. -
Digital Photography Live In-the-Field @ Venice Beach
Such a fun course full of ideas and scenarios to try out. I learned so much from Scott about composition and technicals, like how to best use shutter priority or aperture priority, exposure compensation, etc. Really had such an amazing set of moments. If I could do a first-time class all over again, it would be this one. -
Digital Photography Live In-the-Field @ Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden
Wonderful instructor and a great learning experience. I highly recommend the course. -
Digital Photography 1: The Basics
David was so informative and very well articulated in explaining to a beginner like me on how to feel comfortable getting off the auto-mode. Great class and would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about photography. -
Master Your Digital Camera Controls (Los Angeles)
Scott is a great instructor. He was very clear and explained everything really well. I am so glad I took his class. So much so I stayed for the next class, on composition. Had a great time and learned so much. I am looking forward to taking more classes at the Digital Photography Academy. -
An Evening with Sam Abell
The size of the class was manageable; maybe 65 people. What I liked about the participants was that it was a diverse group of all ages & photo skills. What do you say about Sam? Incredible photographer; probably one of the greatest living photographers of his generation. And he was so generous in sharing about his work and his views. I was not only inspired, but I learned a few things. I also felt challenged. And that's as good as inspired. I only wish the lovely facility of LACP had adequate parking. Parking was a nightmare. -
Beginning Studio Lighting Workshop
Really great for someone who wants to learn about lighting! David is great! -
Digital Photography Editing, Imaging and Creativity
The class was great! The instructor was very patient and very knowledgeable. I would take this class again. I just wish they would not have switched the class room location on the last day of class. ELAC is the one that needs to make sure that doesn't interrupt the classroom venue in the future, for the sake of continuity. Other than that detail, all went well. -
Floral Photography & Marketing 101
Really useful information. A great class! -
Intermediate Studio Lighting
The classes were both incredible informative and fun. Great chemistry. And since there were people from all levels of experience, the instructor did a great job of explaining things to the less experienced while making it still relevant to those of us who had more experience. All in all a great experience, and I signed up for another class immediately. -
Master Your Digital Camera Controls (Los Angeles)
Jeromy is a wonderful teacher. My skills are limited and he has a kind and considerate way of explaining things in an easy and simple way without judgement. I will definitely take another class :) P. -
Shooting Video with Your HDSLR
Andre is a great videography teacher. He is full of wonderful stories, and makes the information easy to understand. Before walking into his class, I had a very limited idea of how to use my HDSLR for video. The other students seemed to be on the same wavelength as me, so that made the class fun. I feel like the shackle of auto has been removed. I have been recording in Manual thanks to Andre! -
Shooting Fashion
Absolutely LOVED this course I learned so much about studio lighting and how to work with different models. The hands-on experience was super valuable and instructor was fantastic. -
Half Day Private Digital Photography for 1-6 People (Los Angeles)
Jeromy is an excellent photographer and teacher. The one-on-one setup of the course makes it easy to ask specific questions and get detailed answers that you can learn and practice hands-on— everything from camera settings to shooting techniques and more. I would recommend this course to photographers of varying backgrounds and skill levels. -
Maximize your DSLR/ILC
Our teacher Raul Guereque was amazing and I HIGHLY recommend taking his class if you really want to get a good handle on the basics of shooting on a DSLR camera. On the first day of class he told us that we would never shoot on automatic again, and he was right! I have been using a DSLR camera for several years, and I learned more in the two weeks of taking his class, then i did in all the years prior combined. He was able to teach us the principles of using a DSLR (F-Stop, ISO, and Shutter Speed) in a way that was very digestible and easy to understand for any level. Then we were able to actually practice these principles out in the field, which made it even easier to understand. In two weeks, my photography skill level has changed tremendously, and now I feel a lot more confident and in control of my settings when using a DSLR. Take this class, and say goodbye to using automatic on your camera! -
Stage Lighting Basics @ Hollywood
Exactly as advertised. The instructor was knowledgeable, friendly, accessible and we covered the perfect amount of material in the allotted time. I look forward to continuing my study of this subject. -
Stage Lighting Basics @ Hollywood
This is an excellent introduction to stage lighting! Jam packed with material, and well explained. There are lots of things that lights are doing, whether on stage or in daily life. Once done with the class, you will notice those little things so much more and be excited to try to create all kinds of looks with lights. If you ever had to deal with lights as a producer, director, or lighting designer, this is a very useful introduction. -

Become a Certified Professional Photographer
Having taken a few classes at the California Center for Digital Arts, I have to say I am more than impressed! (I guess that is the reason I have taken multiple classes.) David La Neve and the other instructors have a passion for photography that is infectious. -
Become a Certified Professional Photographer
If you were to line up the photos I've taken over the last 20 years on sequential order, you could see a very specific photo from which everything that follows shows marked improvement, a fresh style, and identity that no previous photo possesses. That's the first photo I took after learning from David LaNeve and his team at the Center. If you're considering a photo school in Orange County, I highly encourage you to try this one. -

Maximize your DSLR/ILC
Great class....Raul breaks it down without getting too technical making it easy to understand and follow. He makes sure that he can attend & give each participant his attention and help, as well as respond to each question. Raul even goes beyond class time to stay awhile & do more practice sessions & give additional tips & pointers. Thanks Raul! -
Mastering Manual Mode
The class was very informative. I also learned a great deal from the various exercises we did in class. I asked Tip if I could have a copy of the information that was on the slides. In particular, the ones that provided the various examples and the ISO, Shutter speed, and Aperture that corresponded to each. I thought this would be really helpful for me but the slides weren't up long enough to copy the information. If this can be emailed to me, I would really appreciate it. Thank you! Margarita P.S. I'm planning to take the Boot camp offered after summer. Margarita -

Linsey was amazing. It was the best class I have ever taken, and that was my first photography class. It was like having a preschool teacher/best friend teach. By that I mean Linsey broke things down in a way that makes sense. I can't wait to sign up for another class! -
