Jonathan Landsman

Teaches at Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Jonathan Landsman owes a love of plant identification and botany to great teachers at Williams College and Cornell University, to six years gardening for NYC Parks and Jenkins Arboretum, and to an excellent childhood exploring the urban forests of eastern Queens. His first botanical job was as an instructor in BBG's Children's Garden; recently he returned to the boro to serve as the Brooklyn Heights Promenade gardener. Still working for NYC Parks, Jonathan teaches a bizarrely passionate course on Plant Identification; the other 363 days a year he is a Parks city planner and, surprisingly often, a negotiator for the well-being of trees and soils.
