Reviews for Performing Arts Classes Online

Performing Arts Classes Online are rated 4.7 stars based on 923 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • I loved how Gary talked with his hands. Everyone in the group was eager to participate because he was very open and complementary. Thank you for such a fun Monday evening.
  • Ms. Griffin takes the time to explain and show why and how to do steps and movements correctly. She is very knowledgeable and nurturing.
  • Amazing experience!
  • The lesson was amazing! Marv is a great instructor.
  • The teacher is very clear, very attuned to her students, and helps them understand what and how to work the most effectively.
  • The teacher is very experienced with her subject. She has a good eye but corrects in a 'soft' manner so the student never feels put down. Her approach helps the student do their best without feeling strained to go beyond. After my class with Anna I was sore in all the right places, meaning I had worked corrected and to my maximum without overworking or straining something.
  • It was so much fun and I loved how we got to practice with a variety of characters.
  • Jen knows her stuff, obviously, after years of experience in the business. She’s direct, no-nonsense, yet very encouraging, and supportive. Highly recommended!
  • It's clear Allison likes actors. She was collaborative with each & every participant. And she radiates easy joy. She's a perfect person to help actors in this format, and I hope I have the luck to see her again--in a professional capacity.
  • I recently attended a class at NYC Beat Making, and it was a game-changer for my music production journey. From the start, the welcoming and energetic atmosphere set the perfect tone for creativity. My instructor was phenomanal, breaking down complex concepts into engaging lessons that were easy to grasp. I learned key beat making techniques in ableton and it flowed seamlessly, covering everything from basic music theory to advanced music layering. The 1:1 format was especially beneficial with instant feedback. already booked another class and can't wait for it! Highly recommended!
  • Darren is a phenomenal teacher. Every professional voice actor I have worked with has sang his praises and it is extremely easy to see why. He goes above and beyond and really knows how to speak to all different types of personalities. I have no idea how he even finds the time to do this because this guy is ALWAYS working! Pay attention when he is working with others in your group because sometimes it's easier to hear exactly what he's talking about when you're not focusing on your own script. I went old school analogue and brought a pen and paper and by the end of the three weeks I had a lot of solid info I used on auditions. Believe it or not, I have been doing extremely well since course. If you think you've finally learned it all, you haven't. Check out Darren you won't regret it!
  • Awesome class, Arielle gave clear, helpful answers to questions and effective guidance. I intend on taking a class of hers again.
  • Very informative and interesting!
  • Thorough class, and the instructor is very professional. Gives opportunity for questions and directs us to valuable assets for our producing toolbox. I really enjoyed the class!
  • CLASS WAS JUST GREAT. LOOK FORWARD TO TAKING THE NEXT LEVEL. THERESA
  • Darren's class was wonderful. Absolutely loved that he played the other characters so that I could act off of him. Truly a fun time and I'll happily take it again.
  • Jennifer Simms has so much energy. She is enthusiastic, animated and very encouraging in her feedback. It is my second class with Jenn. She delivered an insightful Q&A session that was valuable. Thank you.
  • It was fun and informative. The instructor kept us engaged and offered useful feedback.
  • I truly had an impactful experience learning how to make beats and navigating the platform that Yoav showed me to produce music. Yoav was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and beyond patient. I had SO much fun taking his class!
  • JOCELYN MEDINA IS AN AMAZING VOCAL TEACHER. SHE IS SUCH A GREAT ROLE MODEL. SHE SINGS BEAUTIFUL AND HER TECHNIQUE IS LIKE NO OTHER. SHE EXPLAINS HOW TO CONTROL BREATHING AND OTHER TECHNIQUE SO WE STUDENTS CAN UNDERSTAND. I WENT FROM ONE TO TEN IN HER CLASS. MOST OF ALL ,,I ENJOY WHAT I'M DOING. I WILL CONTINUE HER CLASS. THANZ JOCELYN DIANNA AUTUMN HILL
  • I thought it was great! Everyone should take a class like that. Not only helps in your acting, but also in your every day life.
  • Great class, I just loved it! Great teacher, I will attend more classes.
  • The instructor was attentive to each participant.
  • I really enjoyed the class. The class leader had high energy and made everyone feel included and comfortable. It was suitable for beginners but would make a great practice/ review session to people who have attended previously. I learnt a fair bit from the fantastic Q&A session at the end and from other participants. Thank you
  • JOCELYN MEDINA IS PERFECT. SHE'S NOT ONLY BEAUTIFUL, SHE HAS THE BEST WAY OF TEACHING VOICE. I HAVE A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF THE VOCAL TECHNIQUE, EXERCISES, WHICH I DO DAILY. MY SINGING HAS COME A LONG WAY. I HAVE LEARNED STAGE TECHNIQUE. HOW TO RELAX THE THROAT. BALANCING THE OCTAVES. I RATE HER TEACHING A 5 PLUS. DIANNA AUTUMN HILL
  • Great class! covered a lot of my (many) questions in music theory and production. I'm a total beginner, but Yoav the instructor was super helpful and gave me personalized guidance, and made the class a lot of fun. Overall, I was surprised by how much I learned in just one session so I feel more confident now using Ableton and start a ‘beat’
  • Very informative, instructor knew his stuff and helped provide a good understanding of the process to make beats.
  • Solid class.
  • Really enjoyed the class. Good intro, fun doing the readings, good feedback. Different than what I had pictured as a lecture class and was more interactive.
  • OLIVIA HAS NEW TECHNIQUES ON HOW TO MAKE THE VOICE SOUND INCREDIBLE. I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE TO TAKE HER CLASS. MY SINGING INCREASED TO ONE HUNDRED PER CENT.
  • excellent teaching i have really improved
  • jocyelyn is wonderful. learning a lot
  • IT WAS WONDERFUL. THE TEACHER IS WONDERFUL. LEARNING SO MUCH. THANK YOU
  • This class was amazing. I learned so many helpful tools from Paul. He also has a way of making everyone feel comfortable to be themselves regardless of their skill level. I highly recommend taking this course if you are serious about working in animation.
  • I thought it was an interesting class - and very affordable. I appreciated the time he took with every student. Thanks!
  • I had a lot of fun making my wall hanging! It was a great way to spend a weeknight and I am planning to decorate my home with my creation.
  • The class was educational and fun.
  • It was an amazing and interesting class. I hope I can get it back in the future.
  • Susan is such a wonderful instructor and provides clear, fun combinations while in class. I took Susan's class after years of not dancing and found that her Thursday class was easy for me to follow along with and good for someone who might be starting fresh like me. In class, you'll work on different steps and build them together both at the bar and in the center. What's nice is that Susan also adjusts her pace depending on who is in her class. Towards the end, I could see major improvements in my dancing and would recommend this class to other Ballet beginners looking to jump back into dancing.
  • Andy was so great.
  • This was a really fun class with Anna. The routine includes a variety of Ballet exercises, both slow and quick tempo which are great for students who have previous experience in Ballet. Anna also provides feedback and encouragement throughout the class making it enjoyable to participate. I took this class as an opportunity to see if I’d like to join a longer Ballet class and this sealed the deal for me!
  • Paul was absolutely amazing! I started off very much a beginner in the field, and by the end Paul, had given me the confidence and the tools to continue on the VO path. The tips, tools and words of wisdom he shared with us will always stick with me.
  • Absolutely fantastic! I learned a lot from it, and taking both this and the intro class is one really nice package. Definitely worth the cost. Darren is very positive and uplifting throughout- which is quite contagious! I tend to be very nervous, but he makes the class incredibly welcoming. My only complaint is that there aren't more classes to take haha!
  • Lots of fun! Will be doing other classes with Carl again.
  • Tessa is an amazing teacher! She excels in delivering both positive and constructive feedback. I feel more confident and excited about VO having taken this course.
  • Absolutely amazing! Darren does a wonderful job encouraging the entire class and has many ways to spin a scene. I learned a lot from this- especially dubbing as I hadn't gotten a chance to try it yet. The classes covered an array of different types of scripts, and he was great at matching scripts to voices as the classes continued. I'm excited to be returning in his advanced course!
  • The Instructor gave us a full overview of what it takes to do voiceovers in the industry.. as well as some technical guides.. and exercises to maintain our voice. Most helpful was understanding emotional intent while reading. Great class.. fun and interesting. Learned alot
  • Mr. Al is incredible! I've gained so much more than piano skills in this class! He's super encouraging, kind, and intelligent which has helped me build up confidence on and off the piano. I would take any class he's teaching tbh he's great! 10/10 would recommend
  • Andy Roth is an amazing teacher. He meets every student where he/she is and moves them forward. He creates a safe, comfortable and embracing community of people. His ability to present the material with honesty, humor, and fun is terrific. I cannot sing his praises enough. Incredible.
  • This class was fantastic! It was so informative and most of all fun!

Discover the Best Performing Arts Classes Online

The performing arts include any form of art that involves a live performance before an audience of any size. Through their performances, artists are free to explore ideas, themes, messages, and morals. There are many forms of performance art, including comedy, dance, musical performance, theater, spoken word, circus arts, and beyond. What the performing arts can be is only limited by an artist’s imagination. Performing arts are an important cornerstone of many educational institutions, cultural traditions, and industries.

Why You Should Learn Performing Arts Online

There are a multitude of reasons why someone would pursue an interest in performing arts. With performing arts, there’s no end to what someone can express. Performers have no limit to their art, so performing arts can be an ideal place in which to communicate ideas, themes, and narratives. As time progresses, students may even discover that they’ve learned more about themselves, their identity, and their artistic personas. Learning performing arts online specifically can mean access to a wider range of courses, including niche interests like puppetry and opera.

The performing arts, if pursued strategically, can also provide an additional source of income. Whether it’s performing in local theaters or doing a set at a comedy club, there are opportunities to earn money through ticket sales, performance fees, or teaching workshops. While it may be difficult to earn a complete living through the arts, it’s definitely possible. Many successful performers pursue a combination of artistic endeavors, including side hustles within the industry, to create a sustainable income stream. By seizing opportunities when they arise, individuals can maximize their earning potential and create a stable financial future.

Virtual Performing Arts Classes

Learning performing arts online can have several notable differences from learning performing arts in-person. In-person instruction allows for immediate feedback and correction from instructors, as well as real-time collaboration and interaction with fellow students. The physical presence and energy of a shared space can enhance the learning experience and provide a deeper sense of connection.

On the other hand, online learning offers the convenience of flexible scheduling, accessibility to a wider range of instructors and resources, and the ability to review recorded lessons. Online learning can also benefit students who prefer a more self-paced learning environment. Ultimately, the decision between in-person and virtual classes will be up to each student and their individual needs.

There are many online performing arts classes for those looking to expand their skills from the comfort of their own home. For example, the Songwriting School of Los Angeles offers a class called The Voice Lab: Vocal Technique and Performance. In this class, students will learn vocal technique from an experienced instructor and performer. Topics covered include the ability to sing without straining vocal cords, effective breathing techniques, range expansion, vocal stamina, and voice placement. The Songwriting School of Los Angeles is a group of award-winning singers and songwriters who offer excellent instruction from both Los Angeles and remotely.

Acting and Voice Studio puts on a Two Week Online Scene Study Intensive w/ Nancy Bishop. In this class, students will learn directly from Nancy Bishop, a top UK casting director. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with Bishop, followed by an opportunity to perform and get feedback from Nancy Bishop herself. Acting and Voice Studios is an organization aimed at finding aspiring actors the connections they need to excel in their industry.

Also of interest is a Singer’s Workshop held by the Los Angeles City College. In this course, students have the opportunity to perform solo and in a group. They’ll be able to develop their singing skills by practicing vocal techniques, performance skills, breathing, and how to develop an audience rapport. Topics include basic ear training, scales, vowels, and how to learn simple melodies. This course is appropriate for both beginners and those looking to hone their skills. The Los Angeles City College offers not-for-credit classes to community members both within Los Angeles and all across the world.

The L.A. On-Camera Training Center offers a class called How to be Funny on Camera: 12 Week Intro to Comedy. In this course, students will learn the four essential components of a comedy scene, as well as the eighteen tools needed to make any read complete. This course is for anyone looking to book comedic roles and better act in comedic scenes, or for those looking to pull the comedy out of dramatic scenes. The instructor, Jacqueline Geary, is an experienced comedy actress. The L.A. On-Camera Training Center aims to provide actors in Los Angeles with authentic and proven on-camera techniques.

Online performing arts learners may be interested in the Beginner Belly Dance class, taught by Dance of Venus. This course focuses on unleashing the “goddess Venus” inside each participant, teaching them to take control of their bodies and movements. Students will learn how to improve their musicality, posture, grace, and flexibility through the art of belly dancing. Dance of Venus provides learning opportunities to those interested in belly dancing, yoga, and ballroom dance.

Finally, the 92nd Street Y offers a course called Modern Dance (Open Level) for students at any level in their dance performance career. Students will hone their relationship with breath, space, and width through dance exercises and routines. The 92nd Street Y is a cultural center focused on spreading arts, culture, and conversation through classes and talks.

Private Online Group Performing Arts Classes

Learning performing arts as a group leads to many benefits. Collaborating with others cultivates essential skills such as teamwork, communication, and cooperation. Students will also be able to give each other real-time feedback, tips, and commentary, and help each other feel at ease in the often vulnerable arena of performing arts. Group performances also create camaraderie and a sense of shared accomplishment, nurturing everyone’s artistic journey.

If you’re interested in performing arts classes for private groups online, then there are many options. For example, you may be interested in the Level 1 Animation Voice-Over with Ned Lott. In this course, students will learn the ins-and-outs of voice-over auditioning skills, from video games to full-length animated movies. To learn how many people this class can host, contact CourseHorse.

Potential students may also be interested in Virtual Group Magic Trick Workshop. This course can provide for up to 500 people. Materials required include a deck of cards, loose change, and a dollar bill. Students will learn the secrets and theory of a number of magic tricks.

Online Vs. In-Person Performing Arts Classes

When considering performing arts classes, it’s important to weigh the differences between online and in-person options. Online classes offer the convenience of learning from anywhere, flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to access a wide range of instructors and resources. However, they may lack the immediate feedback and physical presence that in-person classes provide.

Can I Learn Performing Arts for Free Online?

Yes, it is possible to learn performing arts for free online. There are numerous resources available that offer free tutorials, classes, and instructional videos covering various aspects of performing arts, including acting, dancing, and singing. Platforms like YouTube, educational websites, and online communities often provide access to a wide range of lessons and tips from industry professionals. However, it’s important to note that while free online resources can be valuable for learning the basics and exploring different techniques, they may not offer the same level of personalized instruction, feedback, and interactive experience as paid classes or workshops.
