In this class you will create your own mixed media artwork. Mixed media collage is the utilization of more than one medium in a single piece of art and may include paint, glitter, crayons, fabric, magazine/book images/quotes, found objects, ink, watercolor, oil pastel, chalk pastel, colored pencils, etc.
Mixed media art brings together all of your artistic skills, even if they’re not as good as you’d like them to be, to create pieces that will release your creativity. This art form is perfect for all those who are beginners as well as those who are not very good at drawing, but still want to make something. Fulfill your inner need to create and receive the lasting health benefits of art such as relaxation, stress relief, and mental clarity. You have unlimited potential!
Because most artists are visual learners, I teach by example so I will teach cutting techniques while cutting and working on a project simultaneously with the students, gluing techniques while gluing, how and when to add different layers by example as well.
Students will learn how to choose images and text for their art, cutting techniques, gluing types and use, layering the project with as assortment of mediums, balance, form, combining colors, adding found objects etc. in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Sign up now to learn how to combine different mediums (using collage as a primary medium) in a no wrong way/perceived mistakes are just an opportunity to learn mindset, virtual classroom.

About the Instructor:
I have been teaching art as well as crafts at a private art school for 6+ years and have been a professional artist since 2001. I have also earned my master teaching credentials from the state of CA. My style is intuitive and free flowing which leaves room for individual student creativity and flexibility. My classes are a fun way to learn new skills and develop the independent intuition needed to keep the creative process alive for years to come.
Virtual Class FAQ
What will be included in my Virtual Class package?
One ticket includes an access link to your live, online class. The class will be delivered via web conferencing software and feature a live, professional instructor who will walk you through a lesson as described above. You will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as participate from home.
How many people is my purchase good for?
Each ticket is good for one "device" (i.e. one computer, phone, tablet, etc. you'll be logging in from). This ensures we don't get more people in the class than the instructor can handle. Though we understand some people live together and will be working/learning together, the intent is that each class still allows for the same attention to attendees as if students purchased separately. Please be respectful of this!
Will I need anything from home to use in the class?
You will need a reliable Internet connection as well as a computer or device with which you can access your virtual class. We recommend you arrive to class 5-10 minutes early to ensure you're able to set up your device and connection. Additionally, if the class is more than just a lecture you will likely want any materials listed in the course description as "Materials Needed to Participate Fully", though you're welcome to purchase a seat and sit in and just watch.
Am I able to ask questions or interact with the class?
Yes, you'll both be able to ask questions using the chat function in the video hosting software as well as at certain intervals during the class via voice/audio. If the class winds up being on the smaller side, more spontaneous interaction/questions will be encouraged.
Do I have to show my video or speak during class?
While we recommend you do show your video and speak when encouraged to by the instructor, video and audio participation are never mandatory. We find classes have more fun experiences when people are engaging with one another but understand not everyone will want to do so and that's ok!

Overall, students reported having a positive and engaging experience at Mixed Media for All classes. They appreciated the knowledgeable and encouraging instruction, which inspired them to express their creativity and to continue creating artwork outside of class. They particularly enjoyed the opportunity to learn new techniques, such as the use of different glues, paints, and finishing products, as well as strategies for compiling materials for collage creation. Many found the classes to be fun, enjoyable, and therapeutic and felt motivated to take more classes in the future. Here are three insightful quotes from the reviews: 1. "The workshop encouraged me to be creative and not to overthink what I’m doing. It truly revived my creative energy and I am already working on another collage." 2. "It was just what I was looking for, I learned a lot and it inspired me to stop just thinking about making collages and to actually make some." 3. "I learned several new techniques... I loved the first class so much that I signed up for a second one. Ginger is a very giving teacher, going through her entire process from start to finish. That was the best for me....seeing her thought process as she picked out her images and why."
