Learn to Can Tomatoes, using the hot water bath method

Your tomatoes are coming in now or you have been eyeing those red globes at the local farmers market. Either way you have way too many to eat fresh and would like to keep some of the summer’s bounty to savor this winter. Tomatoes are one of the easiest vegetable (really a fruit) to use while learning to can. We will show you how to preserve your tomatoes for use in homemade sauces all year round.

You will learn the Hot Water Bath method of canning. This is a great way to preserve food; very economical, environmentally friendly and healthy. Jars are reused each year, no electricity used to store them on the shelf, and you know exactly what it is the food you are eating.

I will provide the tomatoes, but you are welcome to also bring your own. This is a great chance to see and taste the large variety available today.
