Description
What you'll learn in this drawing & painting class:
In this workshop, we will focus on constructing the head, and the properties of light and shadow necessary in the depiction of form.
Using charcoal, students will learn the principles of proportion, perspective, and how to capture the character of the subject.
In this intensive observation, students will explore the uniqueness of individual features and their relationship to each other as part of a coherent whole. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the foundational technical elements of drawing, as well as the artist’s analysis and interpretation.
Charcoal Supply List:
- Nitram Charcoal, in H and HB.
- Generals white chalk pencils.
- Kneaded Eraser
- 20″ x 25″ Drawing Board
- 19″ x 25″ Canson Mi-Teintes Paper in Sky Blue
- Bulldog Clips
- Blending Stump
- Soft Brush
- Sandpaper Block
This online course requires the use of the Zoom program. You will need a computer, tablet or smartphone (with camera preferred) and internet.
A Zoom meeting link will be sent up to 24 hours prior to your class start date. If you need help with Zoom, please let us know and we will schedule a short tutorial for you prior to your class.
Students will have access to watch recorded session for 7-days.
Refund Policy
LAAFA reserves the right to cancel any class, limit class size, change class times or substitute instructors for those listed in the schedule. If a class is cancelled, students will be issued a full refund or may transfer with no fee to another class. If an instructor must leave after a term has begun, and no suitable substitute is available, the student will be refunded a pro-rated amount.
Refunds & Transfers
All classes, uninstructed workshops, visiting artist workshops and artist demonstrations are non-refundable. You may request to drop for credit or transfer into another class. You have two weeks to evaluate each class and decide whether you want to drop for credit (a dollar amount calculated based on the receipt of request) or transfer into a new class. Requests must be submitted before the start of the third session. A $25 drop/transfer fee is assessed. Credit will be valid for a full year and is non-refundable. It can be applied toward any extension course, workshop or visiting artist event at LAAFA. All artist demonstrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
