Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this figure painting class:

Indirect figure painting class will introduce techniques of academic painting which include; glazing, dry brush, as well as elements of alla-prima style of painting.  Students will have 4 weeks to finish one figure painting.  We will be painting from life model. Before starting our assignment we will paint 6×8 color study to resolve composition and color harmony. We will start painting with establishing basic drawing and construction, students will follow with a limited color palette, establishing color harmony of the entire painting as well as features of the face.

Later we will work on concept of “roiling the form with color and value” learning how to create sense of dimension without losing color, finally we will finalize our painting with variety of glazes, scumbling, and velatura techniques. Emphasis of this course will also be on synthesizing indirect painting techniques with a strong facility of drawing as well as exploration of limited color.

Includes a 30-min. break.
