The Spudnik Press Annex hosts a gallery and classroom, independent studios, and shared work space for writers, bookmakers, artists, students, and others. A reference library of small press and experimental book projects is in development.
To provide facilities and services available to artists who need a place to create or exhibit their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain access to traditional printmaking facilities and exhibition spaces because of financial or other limitations.
To provide education in printmaking practices though uniting professional artists with a diverse community of emerging artists, established artists, youth, and adults.
Founded on the premise that art should be a democratic and empowering medium, Spudnik Press Cooperative is committed to being an approachable and affordable print shop; a space where professional printmakers merge with aspiring students; a space that encourages collaboration and the sharing of ideas.
At Spudnik Press, artists create and use printed materials to further culture and engage with their community. Through sharing materials, equipment, and studio space, artists are also sharing technical skills, practical knowledge, and creative processes. By pooling resources and creative problem solving, artists at Spudnik Press are able to create a space that is beyond the means of solo emerging artists.
By extending our programming to include exhibitions, classes, free workshops, and drawing groups, we are able to reach beyond the print community and engage with the community as a whole.
It was really informative and fun!
Loved the class and Spudnik Press. Tara, the instructor, was very helpful and knowledgeable. And she patiently worked with each student and their projects. Will definitely be going back for open studio time to keep printing and experimenting. Thanks Tara !!
I looked forward to every single class! Best part of the week. The instructor was very knowledgeable and showed us how wide the world of bookbinding was.
Keira was a great instructor. Smart, articulate and patient. Love the creative setting and small classroom size.
Really friendly and helpful teacher. You learn relief, etching and screen print. Each medium is 2 classes, one for making the printing image and the other for printing. My own recommendation is that I which open hours would be free when taking a class.
Travis was a great instructor, he gave us info on the process as well as some history. We had more than enough time in the 4 hour workshop to experiment and make multiple prints. I would definitely recommend this class!
This is a wonderful class if you've ever wanted to learn about silk screening or just learn something new. Elise was very knowledgeable, friendly and made you comfortable. I was nervous at first but quickly realized I was in good hands. I came out with 5 tote bags with my personalize logo.
I really enjoyed the class and plan on trying more classes at Spudnik in the future!
I thought it was a helpful class. The only thing that would have been nice would be a take away (a print of some sort that we could all make together).
Anonymous gave this class 5 out of 5 CourseHorse stars.
