This workshop will introduce students into tapestry weaving. They will learn how to build imagery with the tapestry weaving technique along with learning how to warp and dress a floor loom. Instructor will consult about weaving yarn materials.
Week 1: Class overview, introductions, project expectations, studio use and safety, materials and equipment, presentation on contemporary weavers (focus on tapestry weavers and weavers who use imagery in their work).
Week 2: Review loom parts and mechanics, finish warping if not complete.
Week 3: Discuss maximum size for project
Demo: making butterflies for tapestry weaving.
Week 4: Troubleshoot any issues/questions.
Demo: Attaching cartoon to warp, starting project.
Week 5-8: Project roubleshoot any issues/questions. Guided studio time.
Week 8: Project Troubleshoot and wrapup.
When class/workshop enrollment is below the minimum three days prior to the first day of class, the class may be cancelled. If there is a cancellation, we will contact registered students at least 2 days before the start of the class/workshop by email or by phone.
We will offer students the option to transfer into another class or receive a full refund for the amount paid.
Classes are not refunded due to failure to attend class, planned absences, minor illnesses, or vacations.
