If you are looking to kick-start a new hobby, this course is the best choice. It covers all the fundamentals artists use to draw freely from imagination or real life. Even a complete beginner by the end of this course will be able to paint a portrait and create a composition from scratch.

This course will teach you:

Color mixing
Sketching alike
Shading
Perspective
Abstract and figurative composition
Drawing a human figure
Drawing a human face
Leading an artwork from thumbnails (compositional sketches) to final touches

Detailed Curriculum:

Day 1. The Cezanne lesson.

Obtaining desired color by mixing.

Day 2. The Silhouette lesson.

Learning to assess proportions, adjust the drawing to the paper size, and develop eye-hand coordination.

Day 3. The Escher lesson.

Learning to shade 3 basic shapes of 3D world: sphere, cylinder and block.

Day 4. The Durer lesson.

Understanding Isometric, Reverse and Renaissance perspectives. Practical outdoor studies.

Day 5. The Degas lesson.

Lecture on evolution of 3-dimensional space on 2-dimensional surface throughout the history art, general compositional rules and schemes, practical studies.

Day 6. The Miro lesson.

Learning the key concepts of composition, such as line, shape, weight, movement, and the relationship of objects within the picture. A short lecture on history of abstract art opens this lesson.

Day 6. The Chardin lesson-1.

Learning to compose and paint a still life. Starting the project.

Day 7. The Chardin lesson-2.

Developing and finishing the still life, learning to make final touches.

Day 8. The Michelangelo lesson.

Learning human proportions and some aspects of human anatomy. This lessons ends up with series of sketches of wooden and live figures.

Day 9. The Holbein lesson.

Learning proportions of human head, and drawing an alabaster head.

Day 10. The Serov lesson.

Painting a quick portrait from a live model.

Day 11. The Gaugin lesson - 1.

Creating a composition with one or several human figures from start to successful finish.

Day 12. The Gaugin lesson - 2.

Finishing the project.

This lesson sums up everything learned during the course.

Refund Policy

We do not provide refunds for ongoing classes tuition, courses or camps payments.

However, full credit towards future booking or transfer to another camp/course will be offered for any cancellations made up to 2 business days before the camp or course starts.
Ongoing classes can be canceled with a 31 business days prior notice.

You can make up a missed class on another day when we offer the same age/skill group class. The make-up class should be arranged in advance, no drop-ins. Limit 2 make-up classes per month. Make-up classes are subject to the availability of space in a similar class. We reserve the right not to provide make-up classes or terminate the class enrollment for repeating truancy.
