Be transported to the charming patisseries of Paris with this classic French macaron class. Don your chef's apron, grab your whisk, and get ready to learn the fine art of making these beloved French confections in your own kitchen.
The Gerbert, or Paris macaron, is a French meringue-based almond sandwich cookie with a fascinating history. The celebrated Ladurée tea salon on the Champs-Élysées in Paris is credited with inventing the classic French-style filled macaron. However, the cookies themselves are believed to have originated in Italy during the Renaissance, their name deriving from the Italian word "maccherone," meaning fine dough.
In this fun and interactive class, you will work alongside our experienced pastry chef instructor to create these highly sought-after meringue-based sandwich cookies. Your instructor will provide a detailed demonstration, then guide you step by step through the process: meringue mixing (known as macaronage), piping, baking, assembly, and of course, tasting the delicious results. You will explore various flavor profiles and filling variations to make your macarons truly stand out from the rest.
