What you'll learn in this food tours class:

Colorful, historic Davis Square in Somerville is fastly growing as one of the area's hottest neighborhoods to live and eat and is often coveted by local food critics as one of Boston's best food scenes.

On this unique food tour, you will hear fascinating stories from local entrepreneurs about how they started their businesses and understand the most interesting tidbits from its rich history. We will sample innovative eats such as bowls from the area's first oatmeal cafe as well as dynamite family recipes such as gyros packed with flavor.

You may even get to try your hand at New England's small pin aka candlepin bowling as we indulge in the area's favorite pizza. Wrap your day up with a sweet award-winning treat full of marshmallow fluff, which was invented in Somerville, and learn all about the decadent treat that is celebrated annually at Somerville's infamous Fluff Festival.

Our awesome local guides will share stories about Somerville's key role in the American Revolution, and you may even discover secrets of our most famous residents.

Davis Square is very close to local colleges, less than half a mile from Tufts University, Lesley University, and two train stops from Harvard University among others.

This tour is suitable for all ages. Vegetarian and vegan friendly upon request!

Please show up to the meeting spot 10-15 minutes early to check in with the guide.

Please note that gratuities are not included in the ticket price. We love our fabulous tour guides, and they rely on tips, therefore, we highly encourage tips! Recommended amount is $10/guest. Thank you so very much!

Meet in front of the Somerville Theater MBTA: Davis Square is easily accessible via MBTA train on the Red Line. From the city, you would take any red line train in the direction of Alewife and get off at the Davis Square stop. Follow signs to "Holland Street", exit, and take a right to meet in front of the historic Somerville theater. Parking: Our tours run 2.5 - 3 hours so it is easiest to take the train or Uber/Lyft to Davis Square or park in a private lot instead of utilizing street meters. Meters usually run for 2 hours time limit in general but in some places are 3 hours. You may be able to leave the tour briefly to refill the meter if that's your best option. On Sundays, street parking is free. You may also choose to park at the Alewife garage in Arlington for $8/day and take the red line MBTA one stop to Davis Square. The Herbert Street parking lot (cross street is Day Street) is closest to the meeting location.
