Released by Intuit, Quickbooks is an accounting software package. It is mainly used by small- and medium-sized businesses, and has become extremely popular around the world. With QuickBooks, businesses can easily keep track of their finances, and make more informed business decisions. QuickBooks users can perform many different tasks with this program, including creating reports, paying bills, and managing income and expenses. With a variety of tools, shortcuts, and automated features, Quicken is also popular because it can save a lot of time. Users also say that it is generally intuitive and relatively easy to learn.

Best QuickBooks Classes & Schools in Boston

There are a few different ways to learn QuickBooks in Boston. The Technical Institute of America is a technical school with offices in New York City, and Arlington, Virginia. It also offers live online training. QuickBooks Basic (Virtual) is an eight-hour live online class that costs $169. It is designed to teach beginners everything they need to know to use QuickBooks for business. It covers creating a company, setting up inventory, working with vendors and customers, managing payroll, doing reconciliation, and creating reports. Students also get a physical training manual, and can do a free course retake for up to six months. The course is held via Zoom.

ONLC Training Centers offers a QuickBooks course for beginners called QuickBooks Online QuickStart Course. Tuition for this one-day course is $395. Instructors go over QuickBooks basics, including setting up a new company file, working with customers, working with vendors, entering transactions, and working with bank accounts. In order to take this course, students should have a basic understanding of accounting. ONLC Training also offers QuickBooks Online Advanced, which costs $395. This class is focused on advanced QuickBooks skills such as tracking inventory, working with balance sheets and budgets, the accounting cycle, using payroll, and dealing with credits, returns, taxes, and refunds. ONLC is an IT training school that was founded in 1983.

Another place to learn QuickBooks is at Computer Training Source, Inc., which is based in Chicago, but also offers live online training. This school offers training for both the online and desktop versions of QuickBooks. In Quickbooks Online Part I, students learn about entering and editing bills, checks and credit card transactions, setting up services and inventory, purchase orders, sales tax, and reconciling. This class does not cover payroll. Tuition is $425, and the class runs for one day. It is suitable for beginners. Students can also opt for QuickBooks Desktop Part I, which is focused on the desktop version of QuickBooks instead of the online version.

Computer Training Source also has Level II and Level III classes. QuickBooks Online Part II covers more advanced skills such as customizing forms, creating reports, using other QuickBooks accounts, configuring multiple users, and preparing payroll. It costs $499. QuickBooks Online Part III is $545 and is focused on using QuickBooks for a mock company. 

QuickBooks classes are also offered through the Digital Workshop Center. There is a class called QuickBooks Online for Beginners, which is in a live online format. The class has three sessions, and there is an average class size of six people. The cost of the class is $1,406. The instructor covers a range of QuickBooks essentials including small business accounting basics, setting up a company file, creating a chart of accounts, entering products and services, recording common transactions, creating estimates and invoices for customers, entering and paying bills, and writing checks. Students practice their skills in a sample company file, and instructors help them avoid common mistakes. 

Another class option at the Digital Workshop Center is Bookkeeping Fundamentals. There are three sessions in this class, and tuition is $1,406. Students learn about bookkeeping practices including creating accounts, preparing statements, and dealing with debits and credits. By the time they are finished, they should be able to understand account classifications, the fundamentals of credits and debits, and how to analyze common business transactions. Students also learn to record transactions in the journal and post them to the ledger, prepare financial statements, and conduct professional financial analyses. In order to take this class, students should have basic digital literacy and access to QuickBooks. Some knowledge of accounting vocabulary is helpful. The Digital Workshop Center was founded in 2006, and offers a variety of tech-related classes.
